In 1978, China's per capita consumption of clothing fiber was 2.88 kg, which is 40% of the world's per capita level. In 2006, this figure jumped to 14 kg per capita and 127% of the world's per capita level.

From the food and clothing to the well-off, from the limited supply to the cancellation of cloth tickets, the change of people's clothing is obvious to all.

Over the past 30 years, the textile industry has gone through the process of great liberation and great development of productivity, and has become an important aspect of national power growth.

Our fiber production goes from natural fiber to chemical fiber, which is not isolated. It is the embodiment of comprehensive national strength. It is a reflection of the significant improvement of the country's production level.

In 1978, the output of cotton in China was 2 million 40 thousand tons, and in 2007 it was 6 million 700 thousand tons. In 1978, China's textile industry accounted for 80% of the state-owned capital, which decreased year by year, accounting for 5% of the previous year, and about 4% last year.

The opening degree of China's textile industry to the means of production market, labor market and product market has brought vitality source to the whole industry.

And our international competitiveness comes from a complete industrial chain.

In 1978, we still focused on satisfying domestic demand. Exports accounted for about 3.7% of the total output, about US $2 billion 400 million. The abolition of cloth tickets in 1985 symbolized the satisfaction of domestic demand and the surplus export; in 1994, clothing exports ranked first in the world; in 1995, textile and clothing exports ranked first in the world, and China became a big exporter indeed.
