The PFOS ban is coming. There's no need to panic.

In October 2006, the European Parliament formally passed a resolution stipulates that the PFOS content of finished products in the EU market should not exceed 0.005% of the total quality, and the use of PFOS in commodities will be totally prohibited.

At the end of June, the EU PFOS ban was formally implemented, and the textile and garment export enterprises, footwear enterprises and electromechanical enterprises in our city may be impacted by the PFOS ban.

And because there is no international standard of PFOS detection, many foreign trade clothing enterprises in our city are rather worried.

In this regard, the Wenzhou inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminds me that there is no need for panic in exporting garment enterprises. Because of the special functions of PFOS products (mainly for textiles with "Three Prevention" functions such as waterproofing, oil proofing and antifouling, not all garments), the implementation of the ban has little impact on Wenzhou's general clothing products and footwear products.

Some time ago, the Zhejiang inspection and Quarantine Bureau carried out PFOS sampling inspection of Zhejiang's clothing products, and did not detect PFOS in the general clothing products.

It is understood that at present, the Zhejiang Institute of inspection and Quarantine Science and Technology Laboratory (address No. 2 Wensanlu Road, Hangzhou) can carry out the detection of PFOS items of textile and clothing, and the detection period is 5 working days under normal conditions.

At present, the laboratory of Wenzhou inspection and Quarantine Bureau has successfully mastered the detection method of PFOS, and has purchased the standard sample for PFOS detection.

The value of about 2 million 500 thousand yuan of detection equipment, has entered the process of government procurement, will soon be in place.

At the same time, the Wenzhou inspection and Quarantine Bureau said that in order to facilitate the "physical examination" at the door of the enterprise, the technical center of the Bureau has uniformly accepted the samples sent by Wenzhou enterprises to the inspection and quarantine system from August 1st. The enterprises only need to send samples at the inspection center of the Wenzhou inspection and Quarantine Bureau to complete the inspection of the samples.
