Martha, A British Retailer, Plans To Start A Moral Factory.

The "Ethical Model Factories" is part of M&S's environmental and ethical program to start A program, which aims to make M&S the world's top retailer in 2015.

The idea of building these factories is to demonstrate the best example of ethical norms, and to propose solutions to difficult moral issues, and to give workers equal rights and better treatment and working environment.

M&S works with Bangladesh's local institutions to provide a three pronged skills training course for workers, human resources professionals and middle managers.

M&S said that after more than 6000 hours of training, more than 52000 workers will be more aware of their rights and responsibilities and know better how to communicate with management.

In turn, managers are more effective and prompt in dealing with complaints from workers, resulting in an increase in the number of complaints resolved, a 85% decrease in labour absenteeism and a 65% decrease in personnel turnover.

In addition, productivity and efficiency will also increase significantly, which will result in a wage increase of three factories in 8~42%.

At the moment, M&S is about to promote the ethical factory plan in all Bangladesh factories supplying its source, and will implement the plan in India and Sri Lanka, and modify the plan to suit the needs of specific countries and factories.
