"In Italy, the solid waste generated from leather production will eventually be used as fertilizer for farmland after environmental treatment."

It is understood that the tannery sewage treatment in Italy is concentrated on the regional joint purification plant to conduct a unified treatment.

At present, there are 9 sewage purification plants in Italy, which basically can meet 95% of tannery sewage treatment.

Sewage sludge purified 30% is mainly used for the production of building materials.

Untanned tanning by-products (hydrolysate of raw material from the water field) are hydrolyzed into agricultural fertilisers and recycled from waste chrome tanning liquor for recycling. Tanned dried leather leftovers are used to produce reclaimed leather.

Coalition for pollution control

Over the past decades, chemical and mechanical technology in Italy has been accompanied by and promoted the growth of tannery enterprises in terms of quantity, efficiency and quality.

Under the pressure of national environmental protection, Quanzhou leather industry must speed up the pace of upgrading of equipment and technology, which has become a consensus of the industry.

Italy leather equipment and technology are good, but its high price makes Quanzhou leather industry dominated by small and medium-sized enterprises have a sense of distance.

"In the past two years, our company has invested millions of dollars in upgrading equipment at any cost, but if we want to achieve the level of Italy counterparts, we need at least 1 hundred million more capital."

Based on the same pressure, Chen Jinzhan, deputy general manager of Jinjiang Fu Tai Leather Industry Co., Ltd. said, "the company can only pick up and buy, and spend limited funds on the most urgent equipment and technology, so it can not be updated on a large scale."

It is understood that the same function of the equipment, Italy produced several million, while the domestic production as long as several hundred thousand.

And the late maintenance cost of imported equipment is too high. Many enterprises reflect that single enterprises are unbearable and can only consider whether they are jointly promoted by the industry group.

In addition, from the point of view of pollution control costs, all enterprises are competing on the same platform to be truly willing to deal with pollution.

For members' suggestions, Chen Ronghui, President of Quanzhou Leather Industry Association, said that the joint introduction of equipment and technology to form a pollution control alliance is feasible and the association has the intention to promote it.

In fact, such an alliance has similar practices in Jinjiang's TMC control area and Anton Industrial Park, and has accumulated some experience, but the form is rather superficial and lacks further promotion and deepening.

In fact, the Alliance for pollution control has been practiced in Italy for many years and has proved to be an effective way.

"50 years ago, Italy enterprises were also faced with the same problem as Chinese counterparts."

In view of the difficulties of Quanzhou enterprises, Mr. R.Vago said that Italy is taking the road of joint pollution control. Quanzhou tanning enterprises should try their best to establish a production organization based on the "family" structure and jointly cope with the pressure of environmental protection.
