Entrepreneurs Should Walk Out Of "Comfort Zone"
If employees are very committed to work, the company's revenue will increase by 28%, while the rate of employee turnover is 87% lower than that of the general company.
Interview with Peter Han Duo, global president of Carnegie international training institution
"In my eyes, China's change is too great.
For Hangzhou, I think the only thing that hasn't changed is that I can see West Lake! "
Carnegie international training organization
In a forum organized by the company to add, subtract and multiplex the competitiveness of enterprises, the reporter met the president of Carnegie international training institution.
Peter Han Duo
(Peter V. Handal).
"I have worked in many different companies, including oil companies, leather import and export companies, and even opera companies.
In these seemingly completely different companies, I found the same thing in essence, that is human nature.
In the eyes of Peter and Han duo, managing a company is actually a continuous study and study of human nature. Besides the staff and customers, the research object includes entrepreneurs themselves.
In 1912, Carnegie international training organization was established.
In 1972, Nixon visited China. This year, because of business needs, Peter Han duo first came to China.
Today, Carnegie international training organization has opened 87 branches in the world, and Peter Han duo has once again set foot on China's land.
Trapped "comfort zone"
Zhejiang Merchants: you call yourself "flying trapeze". You visit entrepreneurs in many different countries every year. I believe they will ask you a lot of questions. Which of them is the most frequently asked question?
Peter - Han Duo: many people have asked me how to make employees work harder for enterprises. Actually, not only Chinese entrepreneurs, but also entrepreneurs in many other countries often ask me this question.
I think they have asked this question for a reason.
Recently, a study conducted in the United States shows that up to 71% of employees do not work very hard. They work every day and work at the same time to do what they should do and do not want to do more.
This is a very serious problem.
The study shows that if employees are very committed to work, the company's revenue will increase by 28%, while the percentage of employees leaving is 87% lower than that of ordinary companies.
Zhejiang Businessmen: so what's your answer?
Peter - Han Duo: in fact, my answer is very old-fashioned. Maybe you have heard more than ten times: nothing more than sincere listening to employees' voices, thinking from the perspective of employees, so that employees feel respected and their abilities are brought into full play.
But it is this seemingly cliche answer that many entrepreneurs have difficulty in operating, because they are completely unaccustomed to getting along with employees in such a way.
These entrepreneurs usually appear impatient and think that they have more important things to do, then simply give up - obviously, "
Comfort zone
Besides, their work attitude makes them feel uncomfortable.
Zhejiang Businessmen: what is comfort zone?
Peter - Han Duo: Yes, this is a very important concept in our Carnegie training.
Comfort zone is a comfortable area. It includes familiar environment, people who know and what they are good at doing. These will make us feel relaxed and comfortable.
Once out of this circle, facing unfamiliar changes and challenges, it will make people feel uncomfortable.
Once a young man went to visit the aquarium and found that there were large, medium and small sharks in different glass jars. He asked the director of the aquarium whether the little shark had grown up and put it in the middle shark's tank, waiting for the shark to grow up and put it in the shark tank.
I didn't expect the curator to smile, saying that the sharks and sharks would not grow up again, because the size of the glass jar limits their growth.
In this story, the glass tank is what we call "comfort ring".
Many entrepreneurs are bound by such an invisible "comfort circle" not only to abandon the possibility of becoming better, but also to be eliminated.
"Green light thinking"
Zhejiang Businessmen: what are the common "comfort zones" for entrepreneurs?
Peter Han Duo: for example, the existing business mode, business area, and the consistent management mode for enterprises.
I hope that entrepreneurs will realize that the world we are in today is changing at any time, and that what we are using today will probably not be used tomorrow.
Therefore, if an entrepreneur believes that what is in use today (that is, "comfort zone") will still work tomorrow, and he will not be willing to walk out of his comfort zone, then he will be in danger.

Zhejiang Merchants: in general, what are the signs that a person is trapped in the comfort zone?
Peter - Han Duo: if a person sticks to a rule, day after day, do the same thing, day after day from the same point of thinking, lack of innovation and passion, then he will fall into the "comfort zone".
Zhejiang Businessmen: what is the first thing that entrepreneurs need to do in such a situation?
Peter Han Duo: I don't know if you've heard of it.
Green Light Thinking
This concept? In Carnegie's training idea, there are two modes of thinking: "red light thinking" and "green light thinking".
"Red light thinking" is everything from difficulties, thinking of possible setbacks and failures; and the "green light" concept is just the opposite, more thinking from the bright future and bright future.
In a sense, "green light thinking" is a kind of emancipation for people, because it allows entrepreneurs to let go and allow their employees to allow themselves to make mistakes, which is what entrepreneurs in the comfort zone can't imagine.
Zhejiang Businessmen: I think there is a limit to what you say to make mistakes. For example, the same mistake is not committed second times.
Peter Han Duo: Yes, I am not encouraging entrepreneurs to make mistakes without principles.
Before going out of the "comfort zone", entrepreneurs first have to think that if this mistake is made, will this mistake bring about a fatal blow to the enterprise? What remedial measures do I have? My father is a very successful entrepreneur. He often says that the secret of his success is that although he has made mistakes all his life, he never makes second mistakes in the same way.
Opponent's role
Zhejiang Merchants: besides, what is the way out of the "comfort zone"?
Peter Han Duo: what I have just said is a way to walk out of the comfort zone voluntarily. In fact, we are often in a passive state.
Thanks to our opponents.
A rare eel is produced in Hokkaido, Japan. The price is very high, but eels are very fragile. Once they leave the deep sea area, they will soon die.
Strangely, an old fisherman went to sea to catch eels every day, but his eels were always fresh and tasty.
At the end of the old fishermen, he finally told the secret to his son.
Pike is the enemy of eel. When eel meets pike, the body will be alert and maintain its vigorous vitality.
The same is true for entrepreneurs. It is because of fierce competition and strong rivals that their fighting spirit can be better aroused and their brains will be innovating, so that they will naturally walk out of the "comfort zone".
Zhejiang Businessmen: do you have any suggestions for Chinese entrepreneurs?
Peter Han Duo: I have found that many Chinese entrepreneurs do not speak English - of course, they have their own plation. Of course, it is not a problem to talk about business, but I think it is totally different to take a plator to discuss business with customers and discuss business with customers directly.
So I suggest that Chinese entrepreneurs can learn a foreign language related to their business.
As a matter of fact, I am not qualified to advise them like this. As an American, I can only speak my native language, English.
We call people who can speak two languages "bilingual"; those who speak three languages are called "three languages" (trilingual); those who speak only one language are called Americans (laughs).
Now, I also want to learn to learn Chinese so as to get out of my comfort zone.
