Fashion Clothes: Help The Movie Find Its Own Position

The International Conference on fashion clothing and film will be held at the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center in October 22, 2011. The seminar sponsors and speakers, The University of Nottingham Ningbo professor Armida dela Garza shared with us her views on fashion, clothing, film and other fields.

"Fashion designers can make full use of movies to feed their fashions," Armida said. "We choose to wear clothes that tell us a story about ourselves, what kind of people we are, and how we want others to know ourselves.

Fashion designers are also helping the movie do the same thing. They use clothes to shape characters and build credible and persuasive figures by contours, colors, lines and textures so that viewers can touch and create a sense of emotional appeal. She also suggests that fashion designers do similar things in designing their series.

Professor Sarah Street from University of Bristol in the United Kingdom shows that she appreciates the costumes in Asian films, and Professor Eugenia Paulicelli from New York University shows strong interest in Wong Kar Wai's films and old Shanghai dress culture.

"China has not really developed in this field, but" China is indeed a promising country, "Armida said.
