Egypt Import Textile Inspection And New Regulations

Reporters recently learned from the Shenzhen inspection and quarantine bureau that from June 15th, Egypt will implement the new import and export textiles and clothing testing and inspection procedures Ordinance, requiring that the import of clothing and textiles to Egypt can not detect harmful carcinogenic dyes, harmful dyes, flame retardants and cadmium.

The inspection and quarantine organ reminds us that the vast majority of textile and garment enterprises in China should do well in product inspection and certification in advance so as to ensure the smooth passage of goods.

During the same period last year, the Egyptian Ministry of industry and Trade approved the adoption of 5 new textile standards aimed at enhancing product quality and ensuring consumer health and safety.

The 5 technical standards are formulated by the General Administration of quality standards of Egypt, mainly for the use of harmful substances in textile technology, involving imported and locally produced dyed yarns, printing and dyeing cotton fabrics, garments, bedding and carpets. This year, new regulations are introduced specifically for imported textiles.

Recently, Egypt promulgated a new import and export textiles and clothing testing and Inspection Procedure Ordinance, which is applicable to imported garments, linen textiles, yarns, carpets, floor coverings and household textiles.

After the implementation of the new regulations, the import of textiles and clothing to Egypt must be submitted to the certification inspection company for inspection certificates.

It is understood that the new Egyptian law mainly made clear restrictions on toxic and harmful substances in clothing textiles, requiring that no harmful carcinogenic dyes, harmful dyes, flame retardants and cadmium be found in clothing.

Compared with the adult clothing, the decree is more stringent on the technical requirements of infant clothing, of which the formaldehyde content of infant clothing is limited to 20 PPM, the maximum content of lead is 300 PPM, and the weight of o-benzoic acid two formate sample is not more than 0.1%.
