Update On Chemicals Regulations For Textiles And Footwear Exported From Europe And America

We have made a lot of updates on chemicals management and control of footwear products.

It is suggested that lead should be included in the REACH regulations. If there is no accident, the proposal is expected to be passed in August 2012. In May 15th, the European Union issued a permanent ban on two methyl fumarate (DMF). In June 18th, the European Union of chemical Administration (ECHA) formally added 13 substances to the SVHC list, so that the restricted substances in the list of SVHC reached 84 kinds. In July 1st, the GS Mark of Germany met the new ZEK 01.4-08 regulations, and the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) expanded from 16 requirements to 18 items.

Apart from the updating of the regulations, there are some changes in the testing methods of some chemicals. For example, when calculating the uncertainty of nickel release, different calculation methods may lead to different conclusions from the old version.

In the United States, there are also new cases in the California 65 Act (CA Prop 65).

In addition to the update of chemicals control in Europe and the United States, at the end of 2011, the Egyptian Ministry of trade and industry (MFTI) promulgated two ministerial decrees requiring that every batch of textiles and leather products imported to Egypt must have inspection certificates.

The effective date of the act has been postponed to June 15, 2012.
