Shops sell non A-type clothing sales

Since August, the national basic safety technical specification for textile products has issued new regulations for infant clothing, requiring that infants and young children's clothing labels must be labeled with "baby products, class A, GB18401-2010" at the same time. Without this standard, they belong to substandard products.

In September 11th, when reporters visited some shopping malls, shops and individual shops in the island city, many infants and young children did not have the "three elements", category A, B and C.

In a medium-sized infant clothing store in Nanjing Road, reporters randomly selected clothes suitable for children aged 1~2, and found that the new autumn suits were all up to standard. However, the labels on summer wear were labeled "baby products, B and GB18401-2003", which belonged to unqualified products.

In the exclusive shop, a row of children's clothing is being discounted, and the "GB18401" behind the children's label is being blackened, but the category is "category A (infant products)".

"Why are you blackening the words behind you? Is it because of the new national standard?" in response to the reporter's enquiry, a shop assistant simply responded "no".

Businessmen do not know much about new rules

During the interview, when the reporter asked about the new national standard, many businessmen said they had not heard of it.

"We are buying normally, and when consumers buy, they recognize brand and quality."

A shop owner told reporters that as long as consumption is recognized, they are not buying or selling.

In the interview, reporters found that few people who came to buy clothes looked at the label content, most of them were looking at the factors such as style, fabric, price and so on.

"I have never noticed any standard. Generally, I want to see how the style feels."

The reporter has learned that the "national textile product basic safety technical specification" has extended the age range of infant textile coverage, and changed the age range of infants and young children clothing from "24 months and below" to "36 months or less".

According to formaldehyde content, pH value, odor and other indicators, clothing is divided into three safety levels: A, B and C.

It is necessary to satisfy class a requirements of the highest safety level, and label "infant products category a" on the label.

Since August 1st this year, textile products which do not conform to the new version of the code are prohibited from production, sale and importation.

It is worth noting that the new regulations show that the formaldehyde content of class A is less than or equal to 20mg/kg, B class is less than or equal to 75mg/kg, while C class requires less than or equal to 300mg/kg.

The maximum value of formaldehyde content required by A and C is 280mg/kg, which is because infants and young children may cause diseases if they wear C clothes with high formaldehyde content for a long time.
