Textile Imports In Pakistan Dropped By 11%

Statistics Bureau data show that during this period, the import of synthetic fibres decreased by 28.51%.

In (2012-13) from July to August, Pakistan imported 62 million 729 thousand US dollars of synthetic fiber, compared with (2011-12) US $87 million 751 thousand from July to August.

Imports of raw cotton increased by 22.24%, from $92 million 254 thousand to $112 million 773 thousand, while the old

Imports grew by 23.79%, from $20 million 293 thousand to $25 million 121 thousand.

In the meantime, imports of synthetic yarn and rayon yarn amounted to 84 million 747 thousand US dollars, compared with 111 million 859 thousand US dollars in the same period last year, down 24.24%.

Similarly, imports of all other textile products fell by 18.58%, from US $109 million 276 thousand to US $88 million 971 thousand.

Meanwhile, in August 2012-13, textile imports in Pakistan fell by 1.85% and 10.78% respectively compared with August 2011 and July 2012.

Textile imports in August 2012 amounted to $176 million 509 thousand, compared to $179 million 831 thousand in August 2011 and $197 million 832 thousand in July 2012.

During this period, the total import fell by 1.99%.2012-13 in Pakistan, which was US $7 billion 346 million, compared with $7 billion 495 million last year.
