The Seventh International Fiber Art Biennale Opened The Curtain.
Nantong There are thousands of years of cotton planting history and textile tradition on the geomantic omen of this river and sea. There are many traditional folk fiber crafts such as blue print, embroidery, tie dyeing, silk and so on. The first cotton mill and the first textile school in modern China were born, and opened the century old fiber industry civilization. The Biennale of Nantong, which is the theme of "return and Transcendence", is a "century return" to Chinese fiber art and national fiber enterprises. It is also a "century opening" for the development of Chinese fiber art industrialization, nationalization and internationalization.
Fiber art is an ancient and avant-garde art form originated from weaving. The artist integrates creative inspiration into fiber materials and expresses his unique visual beauty and tactile beauty through different material applications, structural techniques and color rendering techniques. The biennial of international fiber art from Lausanne to Beijing is passed on to the famous biennial exhibition of international tapestries in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Biennale of Lausanne held 15 sessions from 1962 to 1995, and was closed in 1996. In 2000, Professor Lin Lecheng, chairman of the fiber art committee of Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts and Chinese Academy of Arts and crafts, took the burning off from Lausanne, Switzerland to Beijing, China, and began "creative continuation". As of 2010, the Biennale has held six sessions in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Zhengzhou.
As a major part of contemporary international fiber art exhibition The competition, from Lausanne to Beijing, has provided a stage for artists, theorists and educators interested in the research and creation of fiber art in the world with its unique mode of specialization, scale and internationalization. Artists, designers and designers from mural, sculpture, photography, fashion design, dyeing and weaving art, environmental art and so on. They work hand in hand, reinforce each other, and use various fiber materials as media for creation, through the plane, three-dimensional, installation and other different forms of fiber art works, giving thousands of audience a visual and spiritual art feast.
The curator of this Biennale and Professor Lin Lecheng, who attended this afternoon's press conference, said that during the period of preparing the Biennale in Nantong, he was most touched. These moves are not only the "visible and touching history" brought about by well preserved industrial heritage, but also include friendly advisers, judges, staff and enthusiastic citizens of Nantong. It was these moves that finally helped them to define the theme of this biennial exhibition, "return and Transcendence". It is a very good opportunity for dialogue between art and history to exhibit in Nantong, a city with unique status in modern Chinese industrial history, both in space and in academia.
Professor Lin Lecheng said with deep feeling at the press conference: " fiber art It is perceptible and touchable, because its medium is derived from linen, cotton and so on in our daily necessities, and is very affinitive; at the same time, its form of expression is artistic and diverse. So it can be said that fiber art is both ancient and young; it is both traditional and modern; it is elegant and popular. It's the art of real life. And this work has high artistic appreciation value in terms of material selection, artistic expression and theme expression. Professor Lin Lecheng firmly believes that the Biennale will be welcomed by the people of Nantong.
The Biennale is hosted by Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts, the Nantong Municipal People's government, the China Arts and Crafts Society's fiber art Specialized Committee, and the Nantong state owned real estate group. The activity time is from November 8, 2012 to December 15th. A total of 301 entries from over 300 artists from 37 countries and regions were selected to participate in the exhibition. Among them, 127 entries were from abroad, and 139 pieces of entries from China.
