China'S Shoe Exports To South America Have New Channels
In recent years, the export of Chinese shoes can be described as "one wave is not smooth, one after another", which has been repeatedly hit in Europe.
There are both local exclusionary factors and our own factors.
In June 1st, the formal implementation of REACH has imposed more restrictions on the export of footwear in China. On the one hand, we need to improve the quality of our products and strive to achieve the EU standards as soon as possible.
On the other hand, it is impossible for the whole world to have only one price and one grade of shoes. Therefore, it is also a good policy to raise the level of ourselves and open up an unknown market.
In December 2007, under the organization of relevant parties, Jinjiang Chen Dai shoe group went to Brazil for a 7 day market inspection.
The delegation visited St Paul, Rio and IRA and so on in Brazil, and formed a partnership with the St Paul chamber of Commerce, which is the oldest in history. This is a groundbreaking groundwork for Quanzhou shoe industry to open up new markets in South America.
In addition, with the support of Brazil General Chamber of Commerce and Brazil Minnan chamber of Commerce, the delegation also visited the most famous wholesale and retail market in Brazil, St Paul twenty-five street, and the retail market with more than 800 shoe wholesalers operating strength, and valuable valuable first-hand information was obtained.
A total of 4 Chai Tai shoe companies participating in the "Brazil trip" were inspecting the Action Alliance St Paul chamber of Commerce. They are Jinjiang super shoes and Garments Co., Ltd., Jinjiang Chen Daihongpeng shoe making Co., Ltd., fuchesai (China) Sports Goods Co., Ltd. and Jinjiang Shi Ying group Shoe Plastic Co., Ltd.
Zhang Shengtao, deputy director of the Fujian economic and trade SME Service Center of Brazil Province, told reporters: "Brazil's St Paul state is like China's Shanghai, Brazil's financial and Trade Center.
During the negotiation with the St Paul chamber of Commerce, the foreign trade union of St Paul chamber of Commerce introduced us to Brazil's economic and trade policy, Brazil's market demand, and the general situation of the shoe market.
The St Paul chamber of Commerce has organized local enterprises to visit China, so they have a better understanding of China's situation and offer many suggestions on how to open up Brazil's market for participating in the tour inspection.
According to the introduction, according to the partnership established by the two sides, the newspapers sponsored by the St Paul chamber of Commerce will regularly publish information on enterprises and products for Chen Dai shoe enterprises regularly. Chen Dai shoes enterprises only need to send relevant information regularly to the chamber of Commerce.
The survey found that the shoes in Brazil were of a lower grade. "When we inspected the local shoe wholesale market, we found that the shoes sold in the Brazil market were worse than those made in China, and the grades were also lower.
There are hundreds of shoemaking enterprises in Brazil. The supply of these shoe enterprises is far from meeting the needs of the local market.
Therefore, a large number of imported footwear products are sold in Brazil, of which Chinese shoes account for a large proportion.
Zhang Shengtao said.
The survey found that some Chinese people opened shop in twenty-five street and wholesale and retail market in St Paul, and hired local people in Brazil as shop assistants.
According to the introduction, most of the Chinese people who went to Brazil to do business in Taiwan were from Taiwan, China. But in the past three or four years, many businessmen from the mainland also went to Brazil to do business.
"The boss of a hotel in Rio told us that on the day of our stay, many Chinese people were admitted to his hotel.
We exchange business cards with wholesalers in the wholesale market and hope that there will be business cooperation in the future. But most of these wholesalers are not direct importers. They have no strength to import in large quantities from China or other countries, but from some large importers in Brazil.
In these wholesale markets, besides shoes, we have seen many other light industrial products from China, such as bags, key buckles, etc.
Zhang Shengtao said.
Ding Shishui, general manager of the "Brazil Tour" delegation and Fu Shi Lai (China) Limited, told reporters that the price of the sports shoes sold in the retail market in Brazil is about 100 to 200, the price level of the real (Brazil currency) is almost the same as the retail price of the domestic sports shoes in China, but the importers in Brazil are settling accounts with the Chinese exporters in the form of US dollar settlement.
Local shoe enterprises mainly engaged in semi-finished products, Ding Shishui said. According to incomplete statistics, about 85% of the products in Brazil's domestic market now rely on imports. The products produced by their domestic enterprises account for only about 15% of the market share. Brazil's industrial level is relatively backward.
"However, at present, the government of Brazil is developing its own industries, mainly adopting policies to encourage exports and restrict imports, so its import tariffs are relatively high.
However, due to the low level of manufacturing, most of the shoe business in the country is mainly processed semi finished products. Many of these semifinished shoes originate from China, and the tariffs on semi-finished products are much less.
In addition, the Brazil government has been trying to attract foreign investment to Brazil, which not only can solve the employment problem, but also develop local industries, so the foreign enterprises in the country can enjoy many preferential policies there.
Ding Shishui said.
He also said that when visiting the shoe wholesale market in St Paul, they found that most of the shoes on the market came from the three places in Fujian, Zhejiang and Guangdong in China, and the rest were the products processed by local shoe enterprises in Brazil.
"Their sales channels are similar to our domestic sales channels, that is, importers import products from abroad, and then they are sold to first class agents in all parts of Brazil. Then the agents distribute the products again.
Although the quality of footwear products in Brazil market is not very high, I think products with good quality will definitely sell better.
In fact, Brazil shoes are not cheap from the retail price. Consumers will prefer better quality products at the same price.
Ding Shishui said.
Zhang Shengtao can say that the Brazil market is not mature enough compared with the European and American markets. This is an opportunity.
He said: "now, there are more professional shoe exhibitions in Brazil, and this exhibition is also associated with the German Dusseldorf shoe show and the American shoe show alliance.
This shoe exhibition in Brazil can radiate South America, so the international shoe market has formed three major footwear exhibitions in Europe, the United States and South America.
The managers of shoe manufacturers that we are going to inspect believe that if we want to open up the Brazil market, we'd better go to the shoe exhibition in Brazil.
Ding Shishui said: "before we went to Brazil, we had products sold to Brazil, but at that time we only learned about Brazil's market from traders.
After visiting Brazil, through our own eyes, we can well grasp the local market situation, such as the grade, price, category and consumption level of the local market, so that we can have a good idea.
Next, we may take into account the participation of Brazil in the exhibition, and bring samples to Brazil, the effect will be more obvious.
Industry view: by way of Brazil to enter the South American market, "Brazil has a large population, and its domestic consumption level is also good, so the market prospect of the country is still good."
Ding Shishui said: "what is more important is that Brazil can radiate into the entire South American region, just like a window in South America.
When our products enter Brazil, they will be able to radiate into countries such as Argentina and Uruguay.
However, at present, the production base and wholesale market in Brazil are mainly concentrated in St Paul, such as Rio and ireco are all tourist cities, so most of the Chinese people who are doing business in Brazil are in St Paul.
Compared with Europe, the United States and other markets, South America belongs to the emerging market. Under the influence of the EU's environmental factors such as anti-dumping on Chinese shoes and other international markets, more and more Quanzhou shoe companies are turning their attention to emerging markets such as South America.
According to expert analysis, at present, the market of Brazil and other South American countries, regardless of whether they are on the market or on the product level, are at a different level of development than those in Europe and the United States. Therefore, for Quanzhou shoe companies and other enterprises engaged in light industrial products export, they now welcome the opportunity to cut into this emerging market.
Link the market of shoes and garments in Brazil, the textile and garment industry is a pillar industry in Brazil.
According to statistics, there are about more than 30 thousand enterprises in Brazil's textile and garment industry, with about 1 million 800 thousand employees directly employed.
St Paul and Minas are Brazil's textile and garment production bases.
For example, Minas has 40 textile groups, 48 thousand workers, 23 thousand shuttleless looms and 11 thousand looms, with an annual output of 136 thousand tons of all kinds of yarns.
Brazil has a large population. It is a huge consumption market for shoes and clothing. It has different levels of consumption and habits, and the demand for clothing and footwear is huge.
In recent years, textile consumption in Brazil has become diversified.
In 2002, per capita consumption of textiles in Brazil amounted to about US $148.
Because Brazil is located in the tropics, cotton, linen, silk and other natural fiber textiles have been favored. Pure cotton, pure hemp or cotton and hemp blended home textiles have been necessary for every family in Brazil for many years.
In Brazil, pure cotton shirts are the most consumed among all textiles. Each adult in Brazil has 4.2 cotton shirts, 5.3 cotton underwear and 3.8 cotton t-shirts each year.
Besides, sports equipment is an essential consumer product for every teenager in Brazil.
In Brazil, the consumption of sportswear, sports socks and sports shoes has become an important expenditure for most families.
