Zhou Yangjie China World Class Custom Shoes Master
Zhou Yangjie, who has made 5 pounds of slippers, has become the object of fashion celebrities and royals of all countries. Legendary Chinese Zhou Yangjie came to Guangzhou in recent days to attend the preparatory course of art design authorized by University of the Arts in London.
His other name is JimmyChoo.
Perhaps some people have not heard of this name, but most of them know Michel, the wife of Madonna and Obama, the current president of the United States. These two women are wearing JimmyChoo shoes made by them on the most important day of their life - Madonna goes into the Wedding Church and Michel takes part in the presidential oath of office.
Diana, the late Princess of England, has been a loyal customer and friend of JimmyChoo for the last seven years.
Besides, royal family members, heads of state, celebrities of Hollywood, celebrities from all walks of life also advocate JimmyChoo's shoes. Although JimmyChoo's hand-made shoes are the most expensive shoes of the world, they cost up to 7500 pounds from 650 pounds.
The reputation of JimmyChoo is too great.
But in Guangzhou, he even wishes to be called his Chinese name, Zhou Yangjie.
"Every country, I will say that I am Chinese, a Chinese."
Once he was embarrassed, he started off with 5 pounds of slippers. Zhou Yangjie liked to call himself Chinese, but to be precise, he should be a Malaysia born family.
In 1961, Zhou Yangjie was born in a Chinese family in Penang.
When he was young, he was rich in shoes making talent. He taught himself to make shoes by himself when he was 11 years old.
Because his family was poor, Zhou Yangjie was forced to drop out of school after graduating from primary school and went to London to study.
Zhou Yangjie had a very hard time in England, but he had to earn tuition by working part time and half time. He often sleeps for the shoe factory to earn his living expenses.
Like many college students today, he also had difficulties in obtaining employment after graduation.
After raising a sum of money, he opened a studio, and did not expect business to be difficult.
In order to raise funds, he turned around to sell slippers.
"If your expensive shoes are not sold, then sell them cheap."
Zhou Yangjie said, "a pair of slippers can sell well at only 5 pounds, although a pair can only earn 2 pounds, but there are a lot of savings."
Zhou Yangjie did not like to talk about his own business history because he felt that there was nothing to talk about.
A year ago, he spent 2 years on a pair of slippers. He met a college friend who wanted to find a shoemaker to help shoemaking, and his life began to change.
In 1986, Zhou Yangjie, 25, opened his studio in East London to provide customized services to customers.
His shoes are mostly hand-made, characterized by sexy beauty and comfort.
Zhou Yangjie was lucky that he caught up with the early days of Britain's vigorous development of the fashion industry.
By chance, the first pair of rose shoes designed by Zhou Yangjie were looked at by the British VOGUE fashion magazine, and eight versions of "giant" were reported.
It is this report that brings out customers, friends and bole that influence his life for Zhou Yangjie.
In the summer of 1990, Zhou Yangjie was recommended by the aide of Thomas, a famous British designer, to be invited to the Kensington Palace to see Diana.
The young princess opened the wardrobe so that Zhou Yangjie could see what shoes her skirt was suitable for.
"I drew some sketches on the spot, and the princess (he insisted that Diana was the princess) ordered six pairs of shoes."
"At that time, I was at a loss what to do, and after I got to know her dress and the occasion I was attending, I was puzzled, hoping to make a pair of shoes that satisfied her."
After making the first pair of shoes for Princess Dai, he still worried whether this would be the last pair of shoes for Princess Dai. How did he know that he had been doing this for 7 years.
Since then, every time Diana adds new clothes, he will discuss with Zhou Yangjie the design of new shoes for clothing.
Zhou Yangjie said that in the two months before his death, Dai Fei's costume was mainly blue. So at that time, he also designed many blue series high heels for Princess Dai.
The last pair of shoes for the princess was Beige flat shoes. He had arranged with her to send him to Kensington Palace in September 1, 1997, only to see that she had an accident in the day before and killed Paris.
This pair of shoes that can't be picked up are still in the window of JimmyChoo London studio.
She has become the first choice of popular women's carpet. Not only the royal family, the princess of Morocco, Brunei, Sultan and other aristocratic celebrities are regular guests of Zhou Yangjie.
In Europe and America, JimmyChoo brand shoes are the first choice for women's popular carpet.
When he arrived in China, Zhou Yangjie suddenly clapped his head and said he had a bold idea: "I have seen so many overseas heads of state wearing my shoes. I hope that one day, Chinese leaders will also be able to wear shoes made by Chinese people on their feet."
JimmyChoo shoes now cost at least 650 pounds, and the most expensive one is 7500 pounds.
Zhou Yangjie regretted that his customers were relatively few from mainland China.
"Price is a reason, and maybe they are not used to customization."
What is the character of a person who is strongly influenced by Chinese culture and can be ranked as the top designer of international fashion?
Zhou Yangjie said very positively: "I am a traditional person, 100%!"
He said tradition refers to Han culture and Confucian tradition. "Filial piety, parents first, teachers should be respected -- those who teach you knowledge, respect doctors, save your life, eat Chinese food, and after I go to China, I have a big stomach, ha ha!"
He even built a "Temple" in his home.
He can design beautiful shoes for countless women, but he thinks he should be at home.
He can also see the strong influence of Chinese culture, and may even help him to play a competitive role in the western fashion world.
"NO!
I don't like to use the word "hit", "Zhou Yangjie said." this word is too barbaric. It should not be used by our easterners. We should use our actions to tell people around the world how big our hearts are, and we should focus not only on our own country, but on the whole world.
When Zhou Yangjie said this, his hands slowly rolled round, as if they were playing Tai Chi.
"Yes, Tai Chi is the same as Qi, and life depends on one kind of Qi, just like tai chi, otherwise it is very difficult to survive."
Zhou Yangjie spoke very fast, expressing fragmented and hopping, and wondered whether his design inspiration was also as unpredictable as his topic, making his peers elusive and following.
