Sustainable Development Of Shoemaking Industry Will Become Hot Spot Of Romania Textile And Leather Industry

As a labor-intensive industry, the demand for labor resources is relatively high. Therefore, the development of shoemaking industry is facing an awkward situation for the high cost labor market in Europe.

At the fifteenth Romania textile and leather conference, the Third Conference on "sustainable development" was held.

At the meeting, partners suggested that the sustainable manufacturing of footwear industry is necessary.

The European Footwear Industry Federation (CEC) presented a survey to assess the interests and needs of European shoe manufacturers in terms of sustainable development.

A total of 80 companies were interviewed in the survey, of which 64% responded that there was no strategy for sustainable development, but they were interested in learning more; 70% of companies said they lacked technical workers, especially skilled workers in the field of production.

Most companies are aware of their lack of innovative materials and energy saving knowledge.

The representative believes that the current effort needs to focus on identifying the competitiveness and skills needed for sustainable manufacturing, and developing corresponding courses to promote the sustainable production of the footwear industry.

At the meeting, the Spanish shoe technology centre explored the necessity of creating new jobs and professional qualifications for the footwear industry in terms of sustainable production, and the possibility of integrating these new professions and qualifications into national certification frameworks.

The conference decided to draft a draft of professional archives on "sustainable footwear manufacturing experts" and set up corresponding training courses.
