Bangladesh Clothing Manufacturers Focus On Domestic Market

At present, the main clothing demand in China is supplied by local manufacturers, and also from India, China and Pakistan.
Noir is a famous brand under Evince Group, an export oriented company. Its chief executive, Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, said: "with the increase of people's income, it is the right time for garment manufacturers to open up the domestic fashion market."
Noir opened its first store in Dhaka 8 months ago, and now there are two.
In addition, the company plans to open two stores before the end of the year, and then reopen elsewhere.
Chowdhury said: "Noir's target customers are young people, and the domestic market is doing well."
Another successful sign is Beximco's Yellow.
"Our brand is not only successful in the domestic market, but also has four stores in Pakistan," said Shehryar Burney, chief executive of Yellow.
Because Beximco noticed that the growth of the clothing market was pferred from the western market to Asia, Yellow was established in 2004.
The development of the domestic garment market in China and India also confirms this fact.
Burney added: "Mong La plus strong economic entities should also keep pace with the pace of development in China and India.
With the growth of income and wealth, young consumers are increasingly seeking.

At present, Yellow has a total of 11 stores in Bangladesh, and intends to expand to other countries.
In addition, it has partners in Algeria (North African countries) and India, and is also planning to enter the Thailand and Singapore markets.

Epyllion Group also provides clothing for consumers in western countries. In the past five months, its brand Sailor has opened 5 stores in Dhaka.
Rezaul Kabir, assistant general manager of group business development, said: "with the increase of Bangladesh's domestic income and the large number of young people, the domestic clothing market is very huge, so our target customers are middle income groups."
Although Kabir did not disclose its company's financial data, it showed that sales growth was gratifying because of the strong demand of consumers.
Some of the company's fabrics are mainly from their own factories, and some rely on imports.
Other accessories such as watches, shoes, belts and so on are imported from China and Singapore.
Partex Group is the main denim manufacturer in Bangladesh. It also joined the tide of developing the domestic market.
Showkat Aziz Russell, general manager of Amber Lifestyle, said: in the future, Bangladesh must have a global clothing retail brand.
No one has ever thought that Mong La and Canada are the second largest exporters of clothing in the world, but this is a fact. Even if we do not produce cotton, we can still develop into the main garments in the future.
