Textile industry has become one of the priorities of Turkmenistan's economic development in recent years.

In 1991 -2016, the proportion of processed cotton fabrics increased year by year, from 3% to 51%.

At present, there are more than 70 enterprises in the textile industry, producing different kinds of cotton yarn, cotton cloth, towels, woven fabrics, knitted fabrics and finished products made of these fabrics.

In 2013, the two phase of Ashkhabad textile complex bed production was put into operation.

In February 2016, at the base of Ashkhabad cotton yarn joint company, the stocking production workshop (capacity 2 million 500 thousand double / year) provided by Lonati (Italy) company was put into operation.

At the beginning of the year, knitted sweater workshop (capacity 23000 pieces / year) supplied by ShimaSeiki company (Japan) was put into operation.

In 2000-2015 years, cotton yarn output increased 2.4 times and cotton output increased 4 times.
