2019 Annual Meeting Of The International Federation Of Textile Manufacturers Was Held In Portugal.

On October 20th ~22, local time, the 2019 annual conference of the International Federation of textile manufacturers was held in Oporto, Portugal. More than 300 textile industry representatives from more than 30 countries and regions, together with industry renowned experts, manufacturers and investors, explored how to deal with the global challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

Mario Jorge Machado, President of the Portuguese Textile Association, said in his speech that after many years, the ITMF meeting returned to Europe through Portugal, which is an important and encouraging signal for the European and Portuguese textile industry. It is understood that Portuguese textile enterprises more than 1.2, 85% in Oporto and Braga, SMEs are the main force in the development of local industry, 2018 annual output value of 7 billion 610 million euros, exports 5 billion 314 million euros, imports 4 billion 307 million euros, textile workers more than 130 thousand people. Over the past ten years, the Portuguese textile industry has been trying to transform price based competition into value based competition by improving design and research capabilities, upgrading product services and accelerating production, learning and research cooperation, transforming from simple traders to integrated solutions providers, and textile industry has been revived and has entered a stage of steady development. Mario Jorge Machado said that the theme of ITMF combines the two most important challenges facing the world textile industry: Digitalization and sustainability. It is hoped that the global textile industry elite will work together to make the textile industry one of the most dynamic and innovative industries.

The chairman of the International Textile Federation, Cheng Qi He, said that the ITMF conference attracted more than 40 speakers, covering many aspects of the textile value chain. This year, ITMF introduced the new business format and new ideas for the first time, hoping to strengthen the in-depth communication between different countries. He said that in recent years, whether the "social labor compliance project" (SLCP) or the "climate action Charter of fashion industry under the United Nations climate change initiative", the textile industry has attracted more and more attention from all walks of life. In the future, ITMF will continue to participate in international activities on behalf of the interests of the textile industry and voice for the global textile industry.

Paul Portas, former Portuguese Minister of foreign affairs, said that digitalization is changing the whole situation. China's retail e-commerce, mobile payment and other digital economies have developed rapidly. China's economy has contributed 19% of the global economy, and has become the world's largest exporter of goods, and has become the number one trading partner of 70 countries in the world. At the same time, China has invested more and more in research and development, and has greatly improved its technological innovation capability. The World Intellectual Property Organization (iwipo) has found that China currently accounts for 21% of the world's patent applications, and is expected to overtake the United States in 2 years at this rate, with strong momentum of development.

The digitalization and sustainable development of China's textile industry are deepening day by day.

At present, the rapidly rising China has become the focus of global attention. During the conference, the development of China's textile industry has attracted worldwide attention. At the meeting, Sun Ruizhe shared the theme of "textile and clothing value chain: China's practice and Outlook".

He first introduced the development of China's textile and garment industry. In recent years, the labor productivity of China's textile industry has been improved, the ability of independent innovation has been enhanced, the level of green development has been improved, and the innovation of consumer terminals has been developing rapidly, showing a vigorous development trend. At the same time, it plays an important role in the world's textile and clothing trade. A set of data shows that in 2018, China's textile and clothing exports were 119 billion US dollars and 158 billion US dollars respectively, accounting for 37.6% and 31.3% of the world's total, respectively. China's fiber processing volume reached 54 million 600 thousand tons, accounting for 51.28% of the global total. Opportunities and challenges coexist, Sun Ruizhe said frankly, the current trade structure is undergoing profound adjustment, and the textile and garment industry is also facing certain challenges.

On the new practice of China's textile and clothing value chain, Sun Ruizhe talked about the following four points:

Data driven R & D design. Design and R & D will become the core competitiveness of enterprise development in the future. Chinese textile and garment enterprises take the lead and build digital R & D centers through cross-border cooperation to improve production efficiency and enhance product development and innovation. By the end of March this year, the number of R & D design tools for domestic industrial enterprises reached 69%, and textile and garment enterprises were outstanding.

Enhance value by intelligent manufacturing. According to incomplete statistics, the digitization rate of production equipment in China's textile and garment enterprises reached 36.06%, the networking rate of digital production equipment reached 27.74%, the popularization rate of information in production management links was 50.49%, the proportion of enterprises realizing control and integration was 19.82%, and the exploration of Chinese textile and garment enterprises in the field of intelligent manufacturing has greatly enhanced the intelligence level of all aspects of the industrial chain.

Promoting green construction with scientific and technological progress. Green development has become an important trend as the mode of economic growth and social development aimed at efficiency, harmony and continuity. From the results of the "textile light" technology award of China Textile Industry Federation, we can see that green manufacturing has become a trend of technology and occupies an important proportion in awards. The technological progress of China's textile industry has performed well in all aspects of green materials and technology, green production and management, green products and recycling.

The construction of industry social responsibility is deepening. In the process of implementing the goal of social responsibility of China's textile and garment industry 2025, the Chinese textile and garment industry has actively promoted the multi-dimensional responsibility and co governance of the industry, and has effectively promoted the win-win cooperation and sustainable development of the global textile and garment industry. "The responsible overseas investment guidelines of China's textile and garment industry" has effectively promoted inter regional industrial collaboration and sustainable development.

Entering the new era, technology, fashion and green development have become the new orientation of the development of China's textile industry. Sun Ruizhe said that China has a huge market. With the acceleration of urbanization and the deepening of consumption upgrading, consumption will be released more and the industrial cooperation will be broad. In the future, China's textile industry will further promote technological progress, speed up intelligent manufacturing, create green manufacturing systems, increase intellectual property protection, and strengthen cooperation in industrial resources such as quality products, advanced technology, superior capacity, high-end services and international brands through technological innovation, intelligent transformation, green development and collaborative development.

In response to the theme of this conference, Sun Ruizhe said that the digital economy is reshaping the infrastructure and innovation ecosystem of the global industry. Sustainable development is changing the development mode and value pattern of the world economy. Both of them promote the development of the global economy. However, the protection of intellectual property rights, network security, fair competition under the Internet and the conformance of international procurement requirements for different regions' social responsibilities are equally deserving of attention.

Moving towards the "zero carbon" industry, China's textile industry is in action.

At present, sustainable development has become the common theme of global human development. "Made in China 2025" regards green development as an important engine to promote the sustainable development of China's economy during the "13th Five-Year" period. It promotes green manufacturing in an all-round way, speeds up the transformation of the mode of economic development, promotes industrial transformation and upgrading, and promotes the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry. The textile industry's "13th Five-Year" plan has also defined the green development goals. China Textile Association has set up a textile supply chain green manufacturing industry innovation alliance, a green development alliance of regenerated cellulose fiber industry, and so on. Step by step, jointly promote the industry to take the road of sustainable innovation, take the road of green manufacturing and take a responsible sustainable development road.

The industry needs green development. At the same time, we need to realize that the issue of climate change is changing the business environment and pattern of market competition, affecting the operation of enterprises, supply chain and market demand. At the meeting, Yan Yan, director of the office of social responsibility of China Textile Industry Federation, shared the application of the fashion industry climate action charter in China for the guests attending the meeting.

As China's first national social responsibility department, since its establishment in 2005, the China Federation of textile industry social responsibility office has joined the industrial chain upstream and downstream to take a series of actions. It has initiated the "carbon management innovation 2020 action", participated in the enterprise climate activities of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, participated in the establishment of the "China enterprise Climate Action Alliance CBCA", and signed with the 31 global brands and textile enterprises and 11 industry organizations in 2018 signed the United Nations Convention on Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC), the "fashion industry climate action charter", upgraded the carbon management innovation action into the fashion industry climate innovation 2030 action, and formulated the road map to determine the target of reducing the total emissions of greenhouse gases in the fashion industry by 40% by 2030. It is learnt that the "fashion industry climate action charter" has established a steering committee and six working groups. The China Federation of textile industry social responsibility office is a member of the steering committee and serves as co chair of the policy working group.

Yan Yan said that as the signatory of the global charter "the only fashion industry from China", the China Textile Industry Federation has formulated the China's fashion industry's climate innovation 2030 action line, launched the China Fashion Climate Leadership Project, held the low carbon training camp for climate action, and a series of actions have been strongly supported by industry enterprises. In August this year, more than 400 enterprises from the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain attended the 2019 climate change fashion innovation conference, and launched the "fashion climate innovation special fund" to promote the green empowerment and climate innovation of China's fashion industry.

Yan Yan said frankly that he hopes to further improve energy efficiency and energy innovation through industrial scale effect, reduce energy consumption costs and speed up the transformation of low carbon industries, and create a low carbon brand of China's fashion industry through the way of industrial collaboration, so as to enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese enterprises in the global low carbon supply chain and move towards the "zero carbon" industry.

Sustainable fashion is a three-dimensional pattern of people-oriented, environment-friendly and fair competition. It is the common pursuit of the development of the global textile and garment industry. All along, the Chinese textile industry has firmly shouldering the historical responsibility of building ecological civilization. It aims at promoting the construction of the community of human destiny as the ultimate goal, providing strategic support for China's fashion industry to cope with climate change and providing solutions for the deep participation in global climate governance. It can be said that since the Paris agreement, China's "followers" from the climate control system have been transformed into "leaders" and become the backbone of the international climate negotiations.

During the meeting, the International Federation of Textile Machinery Management Committee was held, and the 2020 International Textile Manufacturers Federation was held in South Korea.
