2020 Basel Art Exhibition Hongkong: Continuing Asia'S Multi Artistic Landscape

For some time, some large-scale exhibitions have been affected because of the unstable social situation in Hongkong. From now on, the art circles will pay more attention to the Hongkong exhibition of Basel Art Fair in March next year. Will it be held on schedule?

The organizers of the Basel art exhibition held a press conference in Shanghai at the end of October, announces the organization of the Hongkong exhibition in 2020 and the 242 list of international art galleries. It can be seen that the first-rate art lineup from 31 countries from around the world will return to Hongkong exhibition of Basel art exhibition held in Hongkong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC) from 19 to 21 March 2020. The exhibition will also continue to fulfill its promise to promote Hongkong's artistic atmosphere and continue to push forward the multi Asian art scene.

In the information released by the organizers, in 2020, the Galleries Gallery of Hongkong Basel art exhibition main exhibition area brought together 197 top international galleries, displaying oil paintings, sculptures, paintings, installation art, photography, video and digital works with rich categories. This exhibition area will usher in some gallery which has appeared in the Discoveries and Asia vision (Insights) exhibition area, such as Clearing from New York and Brussels, Ghebaly Gallery from Losangeles, and Gallery Espace from New Delhi.

The Asia vision (Insights) exhibition will feature unique historical materials and wonderful theme exhibitions from 21 art galleries and artists from the Asia Pacific region. Key exhibitions include: the gallery Bank in Shanghai will bring the dialogue between artist Shi Hui and his mentor Wan man, and pay tribute to the tradition of modern Chinese fiber art; Nova Contemporary will bring the influential works of contemporary artists of Thailand Chatchai Puipia and so on, and the exhibition of Korean artist Jin Shouzi will be exhibited at the gallery of Wei Wood, which is a debut gallery.

Another important exhibition area is Discoveries. There will be 25 art galleries in this area. The key projects include the works of artists from Asia and contemporary art in Taiwan and Berlin, known as "three engraving surprises" (2019); Fine Arts, Sydney will present the new works of South Korean artist Yona Lee in New Zealand; Project Native Informant will exhibit the artistic installations of British artists Flo Brooks, composed of five oil paintings, and so on.

A total of 11 local art galleries in Hongkong participated in different exhibition areas, including 10 zanshan Gallery, art gallery, thorn Gallery, Empty Gallery, safety port, etc.

The press conference also revealed that the Basel Art Fair will work with the Asian Art Gallery, through a series of symposiums, as one of the Stephanie Bailey curators and a dialogue with the Basel art exhibition, marking the 20th anniversary of the Asian Art Gallery. (editor Dong Mingjie)
