Sweden'S Clothing Retail Shows Cautious Optimism In March
According to the Svensk Handels fashion clothing index, clothing sales increased by nearly 27% and footwear sales by about 9% in March compared with the same period last year, Sweden's industry today reported on April 13. But if compared with March 2019, sales of clothing and footwear have dropped significantly, by 26% and 49% respectively.
Mats hedenstrm, head of business policy at the association, said Sweden's fashion apparel industry, while still in crisis, appeared to be rising slowly, with sales picking up from their lowest level a year ago. However, we must carefully interpret these figures. Online sales continue to grow, and to some extent offset the losses of physical stores, which are still restricted and the situation is still grim. Now the clothing industry is pinning its hopes for success on vaccination. Improving the vaccination rate is a good omen for the fashion industry.
