New rules for competition system and qualification of chess players

The evening Cup National Amateur Go Championship will start a new competition system and implement new qualification rules for chess players from the next.

The last 6 evening cup competition is a combination of team preliminaries and knockout. The group competition is divided into four groups, 9 rounds in total, and the top four players in each group enter the second stage elimination.

There is a drawback to this system. For most of the chess players who have not been promoted, the number of rounds is too small to satisfy the requirements of the late evening cup and the exchange of chess skills with all the local players.

For this reason, the new competition system will be introduced from the next evening cup competition: the players will be divided into two groups, the group matches will be held in 11 rounds, and the top 8 players will get into the cross finals. That is to say, the top two players will win 1 to 4, and the group three or four will be awarded 5 to 8.

In recent years, there are more and more young chess players participating in the evening cup competition. The proportion of junior chess players in this competition is close to 2 / 3 of the number of participants.

The evening cup also decided to make a new provision for the qualification of the players: that is, from the next beginning, each team will only allow a young chess player under 18 years old, and the other two players must be adult chess players or female chess players.

Female chess players are not subject to age restriction.
