The Meeting Of The Pakistan Cotton Gin Association And The Ministry Of Textiles Was Fruitless.

A meeting was held between the Ministry of textiles, the Ministry of agriculture and the Inland Revenue Department in August 6th to discuss cotton licensing and related issues.

The textile Commissioner's unimportant attitude at the meeting forced the Pakistan cotton gin Association (PCGA) to insist on its decision to go on strike until their demands were met.

The 1100 member plant of the Pakistan cotton gin association has been completely shut down since August 1st because the Ministry of textiles did not completely solve the problems faced by the cotton mill.

Ghulam Rabbani, President of the Karachi Cotton Association, said: "the ginning merchants have asked for permission to trade, cancel the total turnover of 3% of the new expropriation, cancel the difference of GST to 15% of the electricity cost, and cancel the tax of 5 rupees per packet of cotton requisitioned in Punjab and Sindh.

Despite the fact that the Commissioner of textiles has assured cotton mills of releasing cotton gin permits in September 15th this year, requiring the cotton mill to resume work, the Inland Revenue Department has not changed any of the tax policies of 5 rupees / bales of cotton.

However, the authorities failed to realize that the tax on new expropriation would only be borne by the ginning factories, forcing them to bear the financial burden of about 55 million rupees / quarter.

As a result, the main victims will be cotton growers and cottonseed suppliers, because as the factory continues to shut down, cottonseed inventory will lose its due quality and cause heavy losses.
