The Development Of Garment Industry In Ningbo

Ningbo industrial and commercial bureau recently released a survey report on the development of Ningbo's clothing industry. Due to many unfavorable external factors, Ningbo's garment industry has slowed down since the first half of 08 years.

According to the latest statistics from the relevant departments, in the first half of 08 years, about 3600 of the existing garment enterprises in Ningbo (including wholesale and retail enterprises), 08 years from January to May, the export of clothing and accessories in the city reached 1 billion 947 million US dollars, an increase of 20.53% compared to the same period last year, and export of textile yarns and products 1 billion 392 million US dollars, an increase of 36.91% over the same period last year.

But from other data, the development speed of Ningbo garment industry has obviously slowed down.

First of all, from the first half of the city's newly established clothing enterprises, the number of business households has decreased significantly compared with the same period.

According to statistics, there are 522 new garment enterprises in the city, and the number of enterprises has dropped by 15.26% over the same period last year.

Secondly, the total amount of capital absorbed by the garment industry decreased compared with the same period last year. In the first half of this year, the total registered capital of garment enterprises was 136 million yuan, and the total investment in garment enterprises dropped by 39.03% compared with the same period last year.

In addition, the business sector found that 08 years did not participate in the annual inspection of clothing enterprises also increased significantly, as of early August, the city still has 257 garment enterprises do not participate in the annual inspection.

According to past experience, most of the enterprises that have not yet participated in the annual inspection have been cancelled or revoked.

In 2007, the total number of garment enterprises cancelled and revoked in Ningbo city was only 266.

City Trade and Industry Bureau pointed out that at present, the main problem of textile and clothing exports in our city is that the number of export processing enterprises is fixed, while the proportion of textile and clothing exports that register their own brands is less.

Under the unfavorable circumstances such as the appreciation of the local currency, the rising cost of labor and the tight monetary policy in China, the two soaring of Ningbo's clothing industry needs all efforts.

For the garment enterprises themselves, they should carry out innovation and Reform on products, markets, business methods and environment, constantly increase investment in technological pformation of garment industry, vigorously develop foreign trade clothing products, new products and famous brands, expand the export of their own brand clothing, actively create international clothing brands, and directly enter a higher level and wider field of foreign trade marketing channels.

We should speed up the pace of industrial restructuring, and form a more complete garment industry system with clothing as the main form, supplemented by textile, printing and dyeing accessories and accessories as soon as possible.

For the government level, we should increase the inclination and support for the garment industry in terms of policies and funds, form a group of national and even international designers, train a group of professionals engaged in clothing culture, and strive to improve the soft power of famous clothing cities.
