The most eye-catching design of the Russian delegation's sportswear is a red phoenix pattern. The Russian traditional totem is a two headed eagle inherited from Byzantium, but this time in China, it became a symbol of auspicious Phoenix.

Russian hurdler Alexandra Antonova said: "Russia has many myths related to Phoenix. Phoenix represents good luck. We hope to wear such clothes to China to pray for more medals for Russia, and the design looks like the number 8, which also means auspicious."
