Sewing Equipment Industry: Greeting "Spring" In "Cold Winter"

According to the preliminary estimate of China Sewing Machinery Association, in 2008 1-5, the total output value of China's sewing machinery industry reached 6 billion 100 million yuan, down 21.76% from the same period last year, an increase of nearly 41 percentage points over the same period last year, and 6 billion yuan in industrial sales value, a decrease of 20.25% percentage points compared with the same period last year, an increase of 35 percentage points, a total profit of 500 million yuan, a decrease of 43.04% percentage points from the same period last year, a decline of 45 percentage points, and a sharp increase in export growth for the first time.

Industry profits have shrunk dramatically, overall efficiency has declined, and development momentum is obviously insufficient.

In the first half of the year, whether garment enterprises that meet domestic demand or garment enterprises which were processed by foreign trade were affected by factors such as RMB appreciation, export tax rebate reduction, energy and labor costs rising, and so on.

With the sharp shrinking of market demand, many sewing equipment enterprises are facing shortage of funds, small businesses have been shut down, and medium-sized enterprises are in a semi shutdown state.

Some enterprises began to divert attention and try to do something in other industries.

Some view is that the market will increase in the second half of the year, and with the increase of two points of the export tax rebate, the pressure will be smaller.

Another view is that the stimulus brought about by policy adjustment is limited, and the cold winter period of the market will go through a longer stage.

Under the circumstances, it is inevitable that the "standards" will be hit.
