Reporters learned yesterday from the China Textile Industry Association that the US Consumer Product Safety Board (CPSC) recently announced new regulations for importing textile and clothing products in the US market.

According to the new regulation, imported textile and garment products that do not conform to the US safety regulations should be destroyed and export enterprises must be severely punished.

Industry experts say that the United States is a big exporter of clothing in China. This is undoubtedly a matter of urgency for the garment export industry, which has already been stagnant, and the enterprise should do well as soon as possible.

It is understood that all textile and clothing products exported to the US market must comply with the new regulations from February 2009.

Unlike the export products that were previously breaches of safety regulations, CPSC will now directly destroy products that are not in conformity with safety regulations.

In addition, if an enterprise is found to be breaking the law, it will be fined 15 million dollars, much higher than the previous punishment.

The new law has also strengthened the safety management of Baby Garments, including monitoring the quality of fabrics, rope and other decorations.

At the same time, it is stipulated that goods exported to the United States must be considered safe by a recognized organization or laboratory recognized by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Organization (ILAC).

Ma Xinzheng, senior analyst of China's first textile network, said that the export enterprises should first understand the latest regulations of the international market as soon as possible, especially those requiring us to pay close attention to the requirements of the mandatory standards for the safety of textiles exported to the United States. Two, we must strictly register the main raw materials and auxiliary materials for the production, strictly inspect the safety items for the production of key raw and auxiliary materials, organize production in strict accordance with the importing countries or technical regulations and standards, so that the unqualified raw and auxiliary materials will not be put into production, and the unqualified products will not go out, so as to avoid export risks to the greatest extent.
