In China's traditional culture, the number "8" has an auspicious meaning, and this summer's Beijing event will give "8" more meaning. Inspired by the opening date of Beijing 080808, Nike designers have designed colorful octagonal figures around the colors of the five rings to celebrate the sports festival and pay tribute to the auspicious meaning of "8" in Chinese traditional culture.
Octagonal design will be the core theme of the autumn 2008 Nike Sportswear series. Many Nike Sportswear products, either implicitly or directly, show the colorful shape of the octagonal shape -- from the laser cutting holes to the delicate and complex screen printing, all of which symbolize the year of the birth of Nike Sportswear, and sports are the soul of the series.
