Bangladesh's Failure To Seek Zero Tariff Entry Into The US Apparel Market Has Been Severely Frustrated.
In October 2007, US Senator Jim McDermott proposed to the US Senate the New Partnership for Development Act (NPDA), proposing to give LDCs country clothing to enter the United States for zero tariff treatment, but this proposal was opposed by some Caribbean and African countries at the very beginning.
In July of this year, Jim McDermott wrote to the ambassadors of 6 African countries to propose that the bill be amended without giving zero tariff treatment to trousers, knitted shirts and non knitted shirts imported from Bangladesh and Kampuchea.
According to the analysis, these three kinds of products account for 3/4 of the clothing exported by Meng to the United States, and exclude the zero tariff of these three products.
