Pakistan Textile Mills Association Ends Strike
The Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) and Prime Minister Yousaf laza Gilani met in Lahore.
On the second day, the association ended the two day strike.
The prime minister assured the representatives of the association that after negotiations with the parties concerned, the prime minister would solve the problem.

The Prime Minister set up a three member inter Ministerial Committee of the textile industry, including financial advisers, defense ministers and economic ministers, to work together to solve the problem.
After that, GoharEjaz, President of the Pakistan textile mill Association Punjab, ended the strike and called on the government to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
He said the association did not want to strike but was forced to do so.
The association, representing about 300 textile mills, has considered two days' strike per week within two months to reduce the country's export surplus.

The price is soaring. Although it is the fourth largest cotton producer in the world, it needs to import large quantities of India cotton to meet domestic demand.
The government claims that tariffs will help improve yarn supply, stabilize domestic market prices, and help knitting factories.
Imported yarn and blended yarn products do not need to pay customs duties.
The textile factory went on strike in March to protest against the government's restrictions on the export of yarn.
The factory filed a lawsuit against the court, which was eventually exempt from the quota export. After that, the government began to impose tariffs on the yarn.
Last Tuesday and Wednesday last week, thousands of workers in Lahore and Multan took to the streets to protest against the government's tariffs and to avoid layoffs. (last week, there were also workers' protests in Karachi and Pakistan). There were about 850 thousand workers in the yarn industry in Pakistan.
