Banajodis Fasoulas, mayor of Piraeus, Greece: World Expo symbolizes the heart of world trade.

Born in May 1963, Jodis Fasoulas was a Greek politician and a former professional basketball player. The basketball club of its effectiveness won the champions of the European Union. He was elected mayor of Piraeus in October 15, 2006.

On the occasion of the arrival of Shanghai World Expo in 2010, I personally share with you the mayor of Piraeus, the sister city of your city, with the pleasure of congratulating you and organizing all the staff of the society.

Piraeus and Shanghai formally became sister cities in June 1985, making it possible to exchange visits and expand cooperation between the municipal, industrial and trade delegations aimed at deepening cooperation between the two cities. We have carried out the modernization of port infrastructure projects that are compatible with the layout of cities, and therefore insist on updating existing port service facilities. At the same time, the government and citizens of Piraeus are making efforts to improve the quality of life of the citizens and renew their urban features: building children's gardens and parks, establishing eco climate schools, implementing the state approved green plan, establishing a public flight network, and carrying out the modernization of public transport, bringing the city to a new look.

Everything is evolving outwardly, which is in line with the requirements of the times. Our aim is to develop Piraeus into a world and EU shipping center with high standard infrastructure in the service sector. We are also looking forward to working with China in shipping, shipbuilding, tourism, green energy, environmental governance and so on to open up broader prospects for development.

World Expo symbolizes the heart of World Trade and the heart of China's economic strength. Hosting the current World Expo not only meets the needs of enterprises in Asian big markets, but also meets the needs of enterprises in Asia and the continents of the world. Cooperation with neighboring countries not only promotes economic development, but also strengthens the consciousness of competition.
