Xinjiang Awati Cotton Planting 1 Million Acres This Year
Since this year, the leading position of cotton in Awati county has been consolidated.
Planting 1 million acres of cotton, including 700 thousand acres of long staple cotton, 290 thousand mu of fine cotton, and 10 thousand mu of hybrid cotton, gradually formed the layout of cotton varieties with long staple cotton as the staple, fine cotton and cotton as the subsidiary, and developed suitable hybrid cotton. In order to improve the comprehensive efficiency of cotton production and improve the comprehensive production capacity of cotton in the whole county, the effective management year of cotton efficient water saving agriculture and the high yield building activity of cotton were carried out in depth. The integrated technology of cotton mulch drip irrigation, soil testing and formulated fertilization, integrated pest management, high efficiency and high yield cultivation technology were vigorously promoted to enhance the comprehensive benefit of cotton planting.
According to statistics of Hami Statistical Bureau of Xinjiang, the cotton planting area in 2010 was 191 thousand and 930 mu, 33 thousand and 870 Mu less than last year, and 15% reduction. The main reason is that the Hami local and corps system has implemented agricultural structural adjustment, reducing cotton and increasing fruit.
Since spring this year, local weather has been changeable. Frequent natural disasters such as low temperature, strong winds and hail have great influence on cotton sowing and growth. Not only sowing time is late, but also rotten seedling rebroadcast.
At present, the height of cotton seedling is mostly below 15 cm, and the growth is slow.
In view of the overall strength of cotton prices and the reduction of planting area, local people in the industry believe that the price of seed cotton scale will not be less than 7 yuan / kg in 2010, but others believe that the price of new cotton is 6 yuan / kg.
Local enterprises have basically sold their lint in 2009, leaving only some cotton that has been sold but not shipped yet.
