In Wang Jiangjing Industrial Park, reporters and local residents took samples from three waters where sewage was discharged. One bottle was milky white, one bottle was pale green, and one bottle was very cloudy, and there was a lot of suspended matter.

In order to confirm whether these water samples are pollutants or not, the reporter took the three bottles of water samples to the Jiaxing Environmental Protection Bureau for testing. In the subsequent laboratory reports, the properties of the three bottles of water samples were relatively cloudy.

In the column COD of pollutant important index, the values of these three bottles of water samples are 55.5, 85.5 and 138 respectively.

According to the surface water environmental quality standard of the people's Republic of China, the COD of surface water, that is, chemical oxygen demand, generally reaches 15, and the worst surface water quality COD can not exceed 40.

The COD content of the three samples exceeded the surface water standard, of which second bottles, third bottles or even exceeded the standard 1 times and 2 times.

Under normal circumstances, the lower the COD content of the chemical oxygen content is, the better. Otherwise, it will cause a large number of dead organisms in the water and make the living water stagnant.
