The Central Bank of Honduras has said that China is the sixth largest source of imported goods in the country, second only to the United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Salvatore and Costa Rica.

A memorandum of understanding was recently signed with textile manufacturers as part of the Garner tariff and anti smuggling Bureau (CEPS) to resolve unfair competition efforts.

The agreement between the two sides was finally signed because the Textile Importers Association agreed to cooperate with manufacturers in the first half of June.

The long-standing argument of the country's textile industry is that domestic textile products are facing unfair competition, because the import of cheap textiles to China has gradually become a threat to the survival of these domestic industries.

The Garner administration has delegated oversight responsibilities to the Ministry of trade and industry, and the Ministry of trade and industry will work out a strategy to ensure that all counterfeit textiles are smashed into China.

An official of the General Secretariat of the textile, clothing and leather trade union said that they needed more or less financial assistance to help CEPS get counterfeit products.
