About Lina Ma (Ma Lina), one of her students wrote in her own "diary" Diary: "after the show on Sunday, she said with a pale face," I want to put on some makeup and see you in the first class, but I have only slept for half an hour for three consecutive days. Forgive me. " Then take off your coat, the small thin piece is black from top to bottom, and even nails are black. " The title of this diary is "Lina Ma is crazy, but I love her".
Teaching is not the duty of Lina. Since 2006, she has been opening in College of Visual Arts, Fudan University, Shanghai every year in March. Fashion accessories Designed courses. In the other 11 months, the diligent jewelry designer buried himself in the design and promotion of his brand name jewelry.
Speaking of the famous cooperation experience with Christian Lacroix, she corrected that it was only a very indirect cooperation, but not cooperation. B: your 2011-2012 autumn and winter series are very natural. How do you use these materials to make the so-called "advanced custom fashion that can be worn"?
L: this time, we use natural stone, silk, hemp rope and so on. There are many hand woven things. What Lina Ma has been pursuing is not the state of luxury customization in the sense of luxury. We believe that advanced is a thing with a natural outline, and a natural state can represent a more advanced life. So in the materials we choose, there will be many natural, environmental and manual things. I hope that in the new development design, we can inherit the spirit of making the same thing sincerely.
B: according to the fashion convention, the latest issue should be the 2011 spring summer series, and you have been ahead of the whole season. Why?
L: we are mainly looking at accessories and accessories. Compared with garments, we usually advance six months in advance. The emergence of new materials and accessories has some guiding progress in clothing design.
B: you don't have any shops in Shanghai yet, only in Paris. Now, what channels do you use to promote and sell your own works? What is their retail price range?
L:Lina Ma jewelry has been stationed in Paris since 2007.
L 'Eclaireur boutique has no independent shops for the time being. Our main selling platform is fashion week. Many accessories are directly exposed to buyers in Paris fashion week. In addition, we will cooperate with some show room to extend the products to the US, Japan and even the rest of the world. In China, many people understand our brand through Shanghai fashion week, and have called to ask "where to buy Lina Ma stuff". Therefore, I now have the idea of opening my own shop, or I will try to find a more high-end cooperation. The retail price of Lina Ma jewelry in France is between 300-1500 euros.
B: as an independent designer, do you feel the pressure of the economy?
L: economic pressure always appears intermittently, for example, when preparing for fashion week, it will be particularly intense. Independent designers usually work part time in the form of consultants in order to get a capital to make their brands work better. As a matter of fact, I have done similar consulting work before.
B: what fashion designers do you work with?
L: before participating in the fashion week in Paris, she worked with Koshino Michiko, Anne Valerie Hash, underwear queen Chantal Thomass and others. But now in China, there is no cooperation with other designers.
B: you have designed accessories for Christian Lacroix's release show. What impressed you most during his cooperation with him?
L: I have worked with Christian Lacroix, but I am sure he is the person in charge of the jewelry department of his company. He saw my design in the fashion week of Paris in 2005, and I felt very fond of it. In the second years, he found me in cooperation. My job is to make some ornamental elements, and then he may use them in his own costumes or accessories. Lacroix and I have only met briefly. In my resume, I have written to cooperate with him, but in fact, it is rather indirect. One of the most impressive things is that they invited me to a warehouse with a senior uniform, and Lacroix's clothing and accessories were displayed every season. During that time, I would go there almost every day, and I could scrutinize it one by one. The supervisor there will explain the work and design of the clothes to me one by one. During the period of cooperation, I learned much more than I paid.
B: Why did you choose to specialize in accessories design at the beginning?
L: learning clothes is accidental, making accessories is accidental. At that time, I made some ornaments in the accessories class, and the teacher encouraged me and inspired me like a baby. There are some delicate places in my character, which may be too cumbersome to use in clothing, but it is just right to decorate clothes with ornaments.
B: when you were studying at Donghua University, you got the design award of the DESIGN 21 international designer contest held by UNESCO. After graduation, you went to Paris for further education. How far did this study experience change your life and design concept?
L: at that time, I lived in a French old man's home. Grandma graduated from Academy of Fine Arts and studied jewelry design. She deeply influenced me about the taste of jewellery, the choice of clothes and even the attitude of life. Hemingway said in the mobile feast, "if you are lucky enough to live in Paris when you are young, then wherever you go in life, she will be with you." What I learned in Paris is, first of all, the attitude towards life.
I get more from design. In addition to being able to touch so many outstanding designers, there are also small circles formed in my life, photographers, makeup artists, writers. Their innate cultural accumulation deeply influenced me, so many things I did after that, no matter color combinations or collocations, many French people could not see that they were made by Chinese.
B: who is your favorite designer?
L: I have many admired designers. Coco Chanel has always been a very respected woman. Although she has many gossip, she is also a woman who has devoted herself to work all her life. She is sincere enough to face the work, so she can succeed.
B: do you like wearing black? Do you like to describe your dressing style?
L: actually, since I lost my love, there are more and more black clothes in my closet. Black is already the color of my life. It allows me to tolerate others and let others tolerate me. My clothes and collocation are very casual, very good at using accessories to spanform clothes, many times there will be a lot of feminine details, will also put a lot of colors into the black. Friends in France would say, "this is the style of Lina Ma."
