American Soybean And Cotton Become China'S Main Imports
USDA announces the latest issue of US agricultural products

According to the report, it is estimated that the export of agricultural products to the mainland of China will reach a record $20 billion in the new market year (October 2010 to September 2011). The Chinese mainland will overtake Canada as the top market for us agricultural exports. Soybeans and cotton are the main varieties of the US's export to China's continental agricultural products, while the two kinds of agricultural products in mainland China are expected to continue to cut production in the coming year.
The US Department of agriculture report shows that in the first quarter of the 2010/11 market, soybean exports accounted for 77% of US exports to the mainland of China, and soybean oil exports exceeded the US $260 million in the same period in 2010. The amount of cotton exports increased by US $500 million compared with the same period in 2010.
According to two other research reports released by the US Department of agriculture, the soybean production in mainland China is expected to be 14 million 400 thousand tons in the 2010/2011 market year, compared with 14 million 700 thousand tons in 2009/10, and 300 thousand tons, compared with 15 million 540 thousand tons in 2008/2009, a decrease of 1 million 140 thousand tons.
In the cotton market, the US Department of agriculture expects mainland China in the 2010/2011 market year.
Cotton yield
For 6 million 532 thousand tons, cotton production in mainland China was 6 million 967 thousand tons in 2009/2010, and cotton output in mainland China was 7 million 991 thousand tons in 2008/2009. Cotton in mainland China also showed a decreasing trend year after year.
Farmers in mainland China are becoming less and less interested in planting soybeans and cotton in recent years.
Wang Xiaoyu, Deputy Secretary General of Heilongjiang Soybean Association, said: "soybean is not the best choice for farmers, no matter compared with grain crops or other cash crops. The benefits of planting one mu of soybeans are about half less than that of rice and corn with the same area."
Wang Xiaoyu introduced that if a piece of land can grow rice, it can also grow corn and soybeans. According to the general level of Heilongjiang, it can receive 800 to 1000 Jin of rice per mu. The current purchase price is 1.36 yuan (RMB, the same below), and the income of farmers is more than 1000 yuan. Similarly, it can collect about 1000 Jin of corn per acre, and it can earn 900 yuan at the current purchase price of about 0.93 yuan per catty.

Soybean import
The volume will reach 57 million tons, an increase of 6 million 662 thousand tons compared with 50 million 338 thousand tons in the previous year.
Similar to soybeans, farmers' interest in growing cotton is also weakening.
Previously, in Anhui and Henan, it was learned that compared with the increasing degree of mechanization of grain crops such as wheat and corn, the mechanized operation level of cotton was very low, and cotton pests were upgraded rapidly. Cotton pest control needed a lot of manpower and material resources. Although the cotton prices rose sharply in the second half of 2010, the downward trend of cotton planting area had not been effectively curbed.
