Fast Retailing Co, the parent company of Uniqlo, has announced ambitious global expansion plans to make UNIQLO rival the US Gap and Spain Zara to become the world's largest retail apparel brand.

Tadashi Yanai, CEO, said at a news conference that the company plans to open 200 to 300 stores a year in the market outside Japan in the next three years.

As the largest clothing retailer in Japan, fast marketing group plans to focus on

    Asia

There are new stores in emerging markets: 100 new stores are opened in China every year, 50 new in Korea, 30 new in Taiwan, and 20 new stores in Europe and the United States every year.

The Group expects that the number of middle-income consumers in Asia will grow by 1 billion to 2 billion in the next 10 years.

The group is also considering opening new stores in India, Australia, New Zealand and South America.

It is reported that there are 840 UNIQLO stores in Japan and 180 stores in other regions.

The Group believes that rapid overseas expansion will be the key to the growth of UNIQLO.

The group said it plans to achieve 1 trillion and 700 billion yen ($22 billion) in the fiscal year ending August 2015.

    Sale

He also plans to achieve sales of 5 trillion yen in the fiscal year ending August 2020, and expects sales in the current fiscal year to reach 1 trillion yen.

The group said that each new store will contribute about 2 trillion yen in annual sales from the fiscal year ending August 2016.

Fast Retailing is still expected to outpace its competitors in the total number of stores and to become the world's largest apparel retailer.

It is reported that the world's largest clothing retailer, Spanish Zara brand Inditex SA currently has more than 5000 stores in 78 countries, while the US apparel brand Gap has more than 3200 stores worldwide.

Ryui Masa, a Xun marketing group, also said last week that the group plans to open at least 100 stores in the Asian market outside Japan.
