Red shoe is the sign of Christian Louboutin.

Tiffany's statement stated its view: "unique colors can be used as trademarks", and the International Trademark Association issued a statement on Monday to support Louboutin's appeal.

Louboutin brand lawyer Harley Lewin said: "we are very pleased that Tiffany brand supports us. Tiffany not only endorsed our accusation, but also issued strong arguments, and said that the outcome of previous trials should be withdrawn."

In April, Louboutin accused the Yves Saint Laurent brand of using the exclusive Red Shoe Design of the Louboutin, asking the court to sentence the YSL brand to stop all sales, but in August, judge Victor Marrero rejected the accusation and questioned the trademark rights of Louboutin's red shoe, saying that the color should not be monopolized.

Susan Scafidi, director of fashion law department at Fordham University, said: "the way Tiffany supports Louboutin is understandable. If Louboutin fails, then Tiffany will also worry that its own blue will be stripped of its trademark rights."

Tiffany registered trademark patent for the exclusive Blue brand in 1998. If Louboutin loses, it will probably affect Tiffany's patent right.
