    Expanding Domestic Demand

    "In the next five and ten years, China's expansion of domestic demand is undoubtedly a very important opportunity for the textile industry."

    Du Yuzhou, President of the China Textile Industry Association, delivered a keynote speech at the "Rainbow 2011 China Textile Market Forum" held in Shanghai recently.


    Wang Liming, director of the consumer goods industry division of the Ministry of industry and commerce, said at the forum that although we are facing some difficulties at present, we still have confidence in the textile industry.

    He said: "at present, the textile industry is also facing some practical difficulties in structural adjustment, technological pformation, personnel quality improvement, labor cost increase and shortage of our labor force.

    The State Council is very concerned about the difficulties in production and operation of China's textile enterprises, and has made important instructions several times, requiring further concrete measures to be made to increase support for the textile industry so as to enable our traditional industries to shine new vitality.


    Du Yuzhou, President of the China Textile Industry Association, pointed out at the forum that the important principle of pforming the development mode in 12th Five-Year is to expand domestic demand. Expanding domestic demand is an important factor for the textile industry to get out of the financial crisis in the past few years.

    Du Yuzhou said: "clothing consumption continues to grow significantly, this is our main domestic demand.

    At present, the per capita clothing expenditure of urban and rural areas has increased by more than GDP, while the growth of per capita consumption in the whole country is still lower than that of GDP.

    In the ten years from last 90s to 2000, GDP grew very fast, with an average annual growth rate of 10.66%, while our clothing consumption increased by 14.64% over the same period, exceeding the growth rate of GDP. From 2006 to 2010, the average clothing expenditure of urban and rural households increased by 15.22% over the past five years, which has increased by 1.1 times over the past five years.


    Du Yuzhou believes that China's domestic demand and international demand are interactive, not isolated and mutually beneficial.

    We hope that the two markets will be integrated, and we are not afraid of competition. Only by integrating into globalization can we have the opportunity to improve ourselves with international advanced technology.

    "Facing the more complex economic and trade environment at home and abroad, China's textile industry needs to make three adjustments, that is, continue to integrate into globalization, open up new markets, seize new technological revolution opportunities, and deepen the reform of industry system and mechanism."

    Du Yuzhou said.
