Clothing Brands Announce Zero Emission Guidelines For Toxic Chemicals

Some of the world's leading brands and

Adidas Group, C&A, H&M, Li Ning, Nike Inc and Puma jointly announced the plan to plan new environmental standards for the global garment and footwear industry.

They also called on the global garment and footwear industry to join the ranks.

The plan includes specific commitments and timetables for achieving goals, such as the implementation of pilot plans for large vertical integration and fabric suppliers between 2011 and 2013 to understand the scope of toxic chemicals being discharged and used.

They also tried to verify the nine grades of toxic chemicals that have not yet been used.

The investigation will be conducted before the end of 2012 to check the chemicals used in all garment manufacturing processes.

Other steps include opening the experiment and research results of the project, and regularly reporting progress. Quarterly reports in 2012 are from 2013 to 2020.

Their first step will be to require Sustainability consultants to seek feedback from a group of key stakeholders in the next 6 weeks, and will also accept public comments until 12/31.
