Brazil Has Rapidly Become A Major Exporter Of Cotton.

Last year, cotton exports earned $750 million in foreign exchange earnings in Brazil, and became the export of Brazil's agricultural and livestock products.

Northeast Brazil was once one of the main cotton producing areas in the world.

Due to the gradual advance of Brazil's agriculture to the mainland and to the south, the cotton industry, such as soybean, sugar cane, coffee and citrus, has gradually lost its important position in Brazil's cotton industry.

In 1980s, Brazil was pformed from an exporter of cotton to an importing country because of the large reduction in cotton production caused by insect pests.
