The eight departments of the national development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of finance, the Ministry of agriculture, the Ministry of industry and commerce, the General Administration of industry and commerce, the General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine, the supply and marketing cooperatives and the Agricultural Development Bank jointly held the national teleconference on cotton work, summed up the cotton work in 2011, analyzed the cotton situation in 2012, and deployed the cotton work in the new year.

The meeting held that under the circumstances of great changes in cotton situation at home and abroad in 2011, the state should co-ordinate the use of various means of regulation and control, reasonably grasp the pace and intensity of regulation and control, and stabilize it.

The demand for cotton in China is expected to be relatively stable in 2012. Under the strong support of the temporary purchasing and storage policy, through effective utilization of international market resources and reserve regulation, the domestic cotton supply and demand will be basically balanced and the market will run smoothly.

The meeting pointed out that the current international and domestic economic situation is complex and changeable, and there are many uncertain factors that affect the stable operation of the cotton market.

In the new year's cotton work, we must adhere to the principles of coordinating the two markets of industry and agriculture, the industry's upstream and downstream, and international and domestic markets, and strengthen the regulation of the cotton market.
