Bayer'S Participation In VOC Pollution Control And Management Symposium
Waterborne coatings are becoming the preferred materials for consumers and enterprises with environmental awareness. Bayer Material Technology is well prepared to support the huge demand for such materials in the Chinese market.
In from May 21st to 22nd, more than 100 customers, association representatives, government officials and paint industry enterprises gathered to attend the Symposium on pollution control and management of volatile organic compounds (VOC) organized by the Chinese society of Environmental Sciences (CSES), and jointly explored how to reduce VOC emissions in the paint industry.
Bayer Material Technology elaborated the great advantages of waterborne coatings technology in the seminar, and attracted extensive attention in the industry.
At the forum held in Beijing today, Cooney, a spokesman for Bayer Group Greater China and President of Bayer materials technology China, said: "as the world's leading innovative enterprise, we are adhering to the vision of" making life full of vitality with innovation and technology ", making full use of our cutting-edge products and innovative technologies to fully assist China in realizing the long-term goal of sustainable development in the coatings industry.
"We can see that the awareness of the Chinese coatings industry for the environmental protection system has been significantly improved," said VolkerMirgel, senior vice president of business unit of coatings, adhesives and specialty chemicals (CAS) in the Asia Pacific region.
There is no doubt that China's coatings industry is ready to use the latest low VOC emission technology.
The raw material of waterborne polyurethane coatings is a more environment-friendly material, which can be used to replace traditional coating materials.
As we all know, VOC will form greenhouse gases, which will lead to global warming.
Waterborne coatings mainly rely on water as solvent for dispersing paint resins, which can significantly reduce volatile organic compounds emitted into the atmosphere.
Waterborne coatings are not only solvent free, but also have ecological benefits. They even surpass traditional coatings in some ways, such as chemical resistance or drying time.
Waterborne coating materials are widely used in automobile, wood, footwear manufacturing, consumer electronics, leather, textile, and paper and packaging industries.
"There is no doubt that the current global trend is to produce and use eco friendly coatings products. This trend drives all paint manufacturers to develop environmentally friendly products with low VOC content," Dr Michael said.
A special strategic importance for Bayer is to start a production plant of 20000 tons of polyurethane dispersion (PUD) at the Bayer integrated base in Shanghai, which is expected to be completed and put into operation in the coming months.
Bayer Material Technology will then build PUD production plants in key sectors of the world.
The main purpose of building new factories is to provide long-term and stable product supply to local customers and meet the expected market demand growth.
At present, the CAS business unit mainly produces PUD in Europe (Germany, Dole, MARGEN) and North America (New Martins, USA).
Li Xilin, the head of Bayer Material Technology Asia Pacific Coatings, adhesives and specialty chemicals business unit, commented at the Forum: "as the world's first enterprise to provide key raw materials (such as polyurethane dispersions) in China, we will also spend a lot of money on developing our polymer research and Development Center (PRDC) in Shanghai.
At present, our PRDC already has production, application and testing plants suitable for coating formulations.
In addition, we have deployed a professional team of technical experts to help PRDC develop solutions that can effectively meet customer needs.
Environmental problems have become an increasingly important issue in China.
With the approaching of this year's "Green Olympics", Bayer Material Technology is willing to provide China with an ecological solution to provide support for the Olympic Games. The great contributions made by Bayer to the Olympic Games include: providing high-quality materials and extensive knowledge to assist in the construction of the landmark venues of Beijing Olympic Games, "bird's nest" and "Water Cube".
Bayer Material Technology solventless paint will be used in the national water sports center with an area of 670 square meters.
At the beginning of this year, following the company strategy of "investing in local talent", Bayer hosted the second research paper competition.
Through this competition, Bayer encouraged aspiring young Chinese researchers to open up their minds and actively study waterborne coatings and their applications.
This competition provides a good opportunity for enterprising talents to make great contributions to the industry through their own research.
The event was warmly welcomed by the whole industry and gained full support from many well-known research institutions in China.
In order to provide strong support for the development of China's waterborne coatings industry in the eleventh five year plan, while reducing emissions and improving environmental benefits, Bayer materials technology and Changzhou coatings research institute work together to promote the development of waterborne coatings industry in China.
This strong alliance will lead to a series of activities, including a series of water-based application forums and conferences between industry and government.
In addition, Phoenix TV's "commercial impulse" program also reported the Bayer Material Science and technology's water solution. Phoenix Satellite TV covered 42 million families in the world.
The cooperation between the Bayer and the Chinese government in environmental protection began in November 2007, when Bayer and the State Environmental Protection Administration jointly held a symposium on environmental protection in Beijing.
The two sides have deeply exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of environmental technology standards, information exchange and control of pollutant emissions.
