China Cotton Association Survey Shows That In 2013, The National Cotton Planting Intention Decreased By 6.7%

< p > cotton farmers cooperative association of China Cotton Association and Xinjiang Huatai Cotton Professional Cooperative respectively conduct fourth cotton planting intentions and seeding progress surveys on 2766 cotton farmers in 310 provinces (cities and regiments) of 12 provinces in mainland China and Xinjiang autonomous region.

The survey results show that: in early April, the relevant departments announced the "2013 cotton temporary purchase and storage plan", clearly 2013 continue to open up and store up, the purchase and storage prices remain unchanged.

The cotton farmers' Association first reported the policy to the cotton growers' members. The cotton farmers thought that after the implementation of the policy, the price was relatively stable and the basic income was protected. However, due to the increase of costs and the increase of grain protection prices, the price of purchasing and storage had no obvious advantages, and the intention of planting cotton still showed a downward trend.

87.1% of the cotton farmers in the survey were direct seeding, and 12.9% of the cotton farmers sowed the seedlings. The live broadcast of Tianjin and Shanxi has been completed, and the live broadcast of Hebei and Shaanxi is in the closing stage. The seedlings in Shandong and Henan have been completed, and some of them have not been pplanted to the field.

The progress of direct seeding and seedling shifting to the field is 19%, which is basically the same as last year. The progress of Anhui and Jiangxi slowed down obviously compared with that of last year.

< p > Xinjiang cotton production started well this year: on the one hand, the meteorological conditions in most cotton regions are better than all the year round, suitable for cotton seeding and emergence; on the other hand, cotton growers are fully prepared, and the "precision seeding" is used actively. The cotton seeding process is fast and the quality is good. The cotton seed sowing in 4 months has basically been completed, the progress is faster than the previous year, and most of the cotton has been sprouting up at the end of April, and the field management work is in full swing.
