Wenzhou Shoe Enterprises Should Respond To Sunset Review

The European Commission announced on October 4th that it will conduct "sunset review" on anti-dumping measures for leather shoes in China and Vietnam.

Yesterday, a news came out from AOKANG group that in response to the "sunset review" of the EU anti-dumping, the company will take the "two line operation": on the one hand, it actively led the Chinese shoe enterprises to collectively respond to the sunset review; on the other hand, they continued the European Union court proceedings and unswervingly carried out all the legal procedures.

The "sunset review" does not change the measure, but only determines whether to "maintain" or "Cancel".

This will determine whether the EU's 16.5% year anti-dumping duty on leather shoes and children's shoes imported from China in 2006 will be extended for another 12 to 15 months.

This review will directly affect whether Chinese shoe companies will continue to be subject to EU anti-dumping measures.

The day before yesterday, China's leather shoes anti-dumping sunset review Coordination Committee was held in Wenzhou. Most shoe enterprises Wenzhou shoe enterprises want to form an enterprise alliance, actively preparing sampling materials.

The main representative of the Chinese lawyer, Pu Ling Chen, believes that both litigation and retrial should be a double insurance and the possibility of winning collective action is greater.

Under the influence of EU anti-dumping, the export volume of leather shoes in Zhejiang decreased by 22% in the first half of 2008, and the total export volume dropped by 12%.

According to the data of Wenzhou shoe leather industry association, 1~6 shoes exports to Wenzhou increased by only 14.4% in the first 9% months of this year. The growth rate in August dropped to 9%.
