Three Shoe Companies To Tackle Anti-Dumping

When the EU imposed anti-dumping duties on leather shoes and shoes imported from China for a period of two years and 16.5%, the European Commission announced that it would review the anti-dumping measures against leather shoes in China and Vietnam.

It is reported that most shoe enterprises in Wenzhou are actively preparing for sampling materials under the appeal of Wenzhou shoe leather industry association.

The review of the situation is beneficial to China's shoe enterprises. Wang Hailong, the head of AOKANG shoe industry, believes that collective action of the involved enterprises can achieve a unified thinking and give greater pressure to the EU on the momentum.

It is understood that the current situation of review is very beneficial to Chinese shoe enterprises.

First of all, in a non binding vote conducted by the European Union in September 17th, 15 of the 27 EU Member States opposed the extension of anti-dumping measures.

This shows that we hope to abolish anti-dumping duties and European countries are in the majority.

As a result, the EU said that the sunset review will take the fastest procedure, and the average 12~15 months' review period is expected to be completed in about 6~7 months.

Secondly, the EU's internal industries are divided. Many EU importers of leather shoes and multinational enterprises in China, in the current economic downturn, they also hope that the EU will lift the high tariffs on leather shoes in China and Vietnam as soon as possible.

In addition, European consumers, in order to reduce the cost of consumption, also said they did not want the EU to maintain anti-dumping duties on leather shoes in China and Vietnam.

Wang Hailong, AOKANG shoe industry, said: "the investigation authorities are going through the sampling procedure. Once the enterprises submit a sampling questionnaire to the European Commission, they will protest against the anti-dumping against the European Commission."

China's shoe enterprises should respond to the sunset review. The main representative of Chinese lawyers, Pu Ling Chen, told reporters that the enterprises involved had to submit the questionnaire to the European Commission before October 20th. In the beginning of November, the European Commission will publish the sample survey enterprises, and the enterprises being extracted will enter the written defense procedure, which will last for 37 days.

On the one hand, in 2006, five Chinese shoe companies such as AOKANG and other Chinese shoe companies have brought anti-dumping proceedings against the EU courts, and the oral defense procedure will be held at the end of this year or early next year.
