    Wu Ji Gang

The works of Chinese American designer Wu Jigang (Jason Wu) have a place in the fashion industry with the perfect combination of elegant and noble style and advanced customization technology.

Michel Obama, the first lady of the United States, wore a dress designed by Wu Jigang (Jason Wu) at the inauguration ceremony in 2009.

In the designer, Wu Jigang (Jason Wu) is undoubtedly a paragon of cross-border, and has had many successful cross-border works.

This Wu Jigang (Jason Wu) and France's famous Cognac brand Martell cross-border cooperation, designed a new dress collection Jason Wu limited edition.

Let the poster editor have an opportunity to start a conversation about fashion design and wine with Jason Wu, who first came to Shanghai.

The twenty-five question gives you a better understanding of Wu Jigang (Jason Wu).

Q1. how many times did you come to Shanghai?

Jason Wu: this is my first visit to Shanghai. I think Shanghai is a very modern city. I am very impressed and the city is very large.

Standing on the balcony of the hotel, I can see the skyline of Shanghai, which is very characteristic and has left a good impression on me.

Why did Q2. choose "black tie" as the source of this creation?

Jason Wu:'s inspiration for the creation has several considerations.

First of all, evening dress has always been a very important part of my series of works. In my past works, there are always elements like "black tie" or "evening dress", so I also hope to use such elements to reinterpret the classics.

Besides, I really like the black suit, so I also want to apply the same concept to the bottle.

Q3. we observed that the bottle was covered with texture. Why do you want to decorate the bottle like this?

Jason Wu: is inspired by my previous handbag design.

The first exclusive use of new technology on wine bottles creates a smooth and leather like texture that looks elegant.

Q4. what kind of feelings and inspirations do you have before you were invited to the fragrant dew estate in Martell Cognac District, France?

Jason Wu:, I think it is very important to have the opportunity to understand how Martell brand has formed such a heritage and history.

Martell has a history of 300 years. In 300 years, it has not changed its way of making Cognac, and I really appreciate it.

I can see that the whole production process is very meticulous, and this is what I am eager to present in my own series of works, so this trip to the manor really brings me a lot of inspiration.

Q5. can you talk about the characteristics of "THE WU" you personally deploy?

Jason Wu: actually, when I went to Martell manor, I was honored to try all kinds of ways to drink Cognac, some of which I didn't know before, and I was surprised.

In addition, I found that cherry flavor can actually combine well with Cognac. There was no similar way of blending cocktail before, so I created the "THE WU" cocktail, which is part of cooperation.

It contains cherries and some ginger juice to balance, plus syrup and so on.

Q6. what do you think is the right place to taste "THE WU"?

Jason Wu: I feel like I am dressed up today to attend a black tie.

This cocktail is very rich and rich, so it's more suitable.

Q7. it is said that you have created a wine tasting etiquette. Can you tell us about the taste of "THE WU"?

Jason Wu: my favorite way is to use classic, nostalgic goblets. This is also a tribute to Martell's long history. I hope it not only tastes good and looks full, but also senses and visual feelings.

The theme of tonight's party is Shanghai in the 40s of last century. Women are all dressed elegantly. This is also a way to salute the city of Shanghai.

Q8. you were born in Taiwan, then settled in New York, and went to France to study. Do you think there is any difference between Chinese and Western wine culture?

Jason Wu:, of course, there will be many differences between Chinese culture and Western culture.

I think cocktail culture is more from the west, but I very much hope that through the "THE WU" cocktail, in my own way of creating a Cognac drink, this is also the embodiment of the integration of China and the West.

It is very special for me to participate in this activity, including the cooperation with Martell, especially my background as a Chinese American.

Q9. Martell launched a series of contemporary celebrities, how would you interpret it?

Jason Wu: I think Martell celebrities Cognac brings a very luxurious and elegant taste, and brings rich, mature and deep feeling.

This black tie wine bottle is very suitable for the spirit of Martell celebrities.

Q10. Martell has always advocated that elegance is a natural sensibility. What does elegance mean to you?

Jason Wu:, for me, elegance on the one hand means classic, which can well reflect and respect the long history of Martell brand. On the other hand, I also hope that we can reinterpret this brand in our generation.

Q11. do you design clothes from elegance? What kind of women make you feel really elegant?

Jason Wu: I think elegant women should first understand themselves very much and feel very confident, from the inner elegance rather than relying on flashy costumes and external designs, they should show more details and understatement, which are also the main points in my design.

You will see some of my works tonight, and I will also see Ms. Liu Wen, which is very elegant and has its own style.

Q12. people describe you with "high-profile designers". Will this "attention" interfere with you?

Jason Wu: may be more of a responsibility and can be recognized by the industry by the media. I feel very lucky, so I am very grateful.

It also makes everyone pay more attention to my work. I will treat it seriously and work harder and harder.

Because I always feel that I have something to improve, and I hope every work and series will be better than last time.

Q13. from obscurity to much attention, how do you keep the "dauntless spirit" of exploration?

The attention of Jason Wu: will bring some pressure to me, but it also forces me to constantly innovate.

It also makes me feel excited and passionate about my current work. What I am doing now is not static. It is always in the process of change and development.

So I feel that I am very excited to have the ability to influence other people's views on clothes.

Q14. what do you want the world to know about Jason Wu?

Jason Wu: is diligent, hardworking and graceful.

Q15. your design has been worn by the first lady Michal Obama for two times. Are your two feelings different?

Will you be more excited for the first time?

Jason Wu: two times are different emotions, it is difficult to compare.

The two times I have experienced are all very important milestones, and it is hard to be duplicated. It must be exciting for a Chinese American designer to participate in it. When I knew the news, I was really ecstatic.

Q16. if there is another chance to design clothes for Mrs. Obama, how will you design it?

Jason Wu: I feel very lucky, because in fact, my cooperation with the first lady has not only been in the two inaugural ceremony of the US president, but in the past four years, we have been working together, and I have always maintained an innovative idea.

Q17. what do you prefer to design for a successful person?

Jason Wu: I really hope to design clothes for China's "first lady".

Q18. you used to work in a toy company. What kind of opportunities do you engage in fashion design work?

Jason Wu: actually I have always dreamed of fashion designers, and I have studied systematically.

The cooperation with toy companies is quite accidental. I may have arrived at a lot of things in this process. For example, I learned how to be an enterprise, cooperate with others, and how to create works and production processes.

So the experience of the entire toy company is precious, but I have to follow my heart and become a fashion designer.

Q19. fashion designers usually start drawing in the middle of the night. Do you think so?

Jason Wu: often happens. Sometimes it makes me hard to sleep. My brain is full of different ideas. My brain seems to have stopped functioning. Of course, being able to keep thinking and creative is a good thing, but it really interferes with my sleep.

Q20. how do you normally find design inspiration?

Jason Wu: travel is a very important source of inspiration. Besides, I also like to get in touch with some fresh and different media to cooperate, which can give me a lot of inspiration.

In fact, most of the time, inspiration comes from unexpected places, and at any time, travel can always make me feel like a horse.

I like to get in touch with different cultures and histories and get inspiration from them.

Will Q21. suddenly encounter obstacles when designing clothes?

    How to overcome it?

Jason Wu: will encounter different problems every time, but I think it is very important to stick to my own ideas, just like this wine bottle design. I just mentioned the use of new technology. There are many challenges in this process, but I still insist on my own ideas, and it takes several months to finish.
