Wuhan: Female Doctor 9 Years Of Weaving "Iron Shirt" Bullets Are Hard To Wear.

Three core inventors of 3D looms

Gong Xiaozhou used his knife to make a few strokes on the "iron shirt" knitted, leaving only a few scratches that could not be seen with the naked eye.
This Spring Festival,
Wuhan
Gong Xiaozhou, a 35 year old female doctor in Textile College of Textile University, was still in the laboratory.
The girl who returned home from abroad did not go home for 3 years on New Year's Eve.
3D textile machine
"
In order to develop this "3D textile machine", the team she led has been fighting for 9 years since 2006.
At the end of November last year, the "three dimensional textile machine" weaved the first three dimensional three-dimensional textile cloth that could be used as a "iron shirt". Gong Xiaozhou was so excited that he didn't fall asleep all night.
Gong Xiaozhou told reporters that the project has already signed a result of pformation with the enterprise, and will soon be put into production. She has to perfect every detail and strive for no mistakes.
It's okay to cut a knife with a knife.
"
ability to sustain the thrusts of sharp weapons on one's bare skin
"It is the most famous body protector of Chinese Kung Fu. It is said that people who have been trained to do this work can not only bear punching and kicking, but also do not damage them.
Gong Xiaozhou's team developed the "three-dimensional textile machine" woven cloth has this "magic effect".
"Taking the steel for comparison, the three-dimensional fabric made of steel is lighter than 3/4 steel, but its strength is 6-7 times that of steel.
The lightest carbon fiber woven cloth is lighter than the cotton cloth! "Gong Xiaozhou introduced.
Gong Xiaozhou took out a long belt shaped cloth: "you try."
The reporter tried his best to use the knife to stab several times on the top of the cloth, and cut several knives, leaving only a few silk threads that could not be seen with the naked eye.
Gong Xiaozhou told reporters that this is only a semi finished product, the final product, not to mention the knife and gun, bullets are difficult to wear.
Why is this cloth so hard?
Another head of the team, Lin Fusheng, a professor at the Mechanical College of the school, explained that the material used in this material was glass fiber, quartz fiber and carbon fiber, and was made from the advantages of all fiber materials.
6-7 times harder than steel is calculated based on the density and properties of these materials.
Professor Gong's master's and doctorate were studied at University of Manchester in England. Her mentor is a master of three dimensional textile weaving technology in the world.
The master used the same three-dimensional textile cloth to do experiments, and fired the pistol 10 meters outside. The cloth was not penetrated and not deformed. Later, these crafts were used in the bulletproof vest and various police equipment in Britain.
It took 9 years to develop 3D textile machines.
It is not easy to develop looms that can be woven into "iron shirts".
The first prototype was developed in 2006, but the woven fabric is no different from the ordinary one.
In 2011, Professor Lin Fu Sheng spent 3 years developing the first 3D machine prototype, but the machine that mimics traditional looms can not weave cloth.
Many people advised Lin Fu Sheng to give up, and some people laughed at him privately: "they certainly can not do it, foreign technology is advanced, and there is financial support. There is nothing in our school. How can it be?"
Lin Fu Sheng does not believe in this evil. Dr. Gong Xiaozhou is convinced that what we can do abroad can also be done.
"The whole machine is scrapped and rebuilt."
After consulting Lin Fusheng and Gong Xiaozhou, he made the decision to let everyone fall.
All 3 years of effort were wasted and everything started from scratch.
Gong Xiaozhou went down to Jiangsu and bought 3 small models from a factory in Jiangsu.
This stubborn female doctor spends most of her time in the laboratory.
Weekends and winter and summer holidays are more important for her to do scientific research. She usually acts as a class mentor at college, and there are many kinds of things for students. When she gets off, she can devote herself to the research.
In recent 3 years, the core members of the team were spent in the lab on New Year's Eve.
"I haven't seen TV in 9 years."
Gong Xiaozhou told reporters that he was not interested but had no time to read.
A while ago, many female colleagues in the office were talking about Wu Mei Niang. She also asked curiously, "Why are you suddenly interested in history?" my colleagues laughed at her and said, "you are almost ready to make antiques for research."
Only then did she know that her colleagues were talking about the recent hot TV series.
Before the results of scientific research came out, the team received very little financial support.
The cost of research over the past 9 years has been funded by teachers themselves, which has now cost millions.
To save money for the project, Professor Lin Fu Sheng, Dr. Gong Xiaozhou and his colleagues can do everything possible to get materials locally.
The prototype needs a set of "sub warp" equipment, which is to separate the fibers from the meridians. The normal procedure is to open the mold, but the mold will cost thousands of dollars if it is opened. In order to save money, people thought of a "dirt method": to wholesale a wooden wooden comb in Hanzheng Street, which cost less than 1 yuan each, so that the problem was solved by tens of dollars. To solve the problem of thread wear, a team bought ten thousand or twenty thousand of the threading equipment, and the team members thought of the waste utilization. They removed the core of the waste wire and used the insulation wrapping of the wire as the thread drawing equipment, and solved the big problem without spending a penny.
"Over the past few years, our total R & D expenditure has saved five million and a half million."
The outcome of pformation has been signed.
Li Yu, deputy director of the Wuhan Textile University's science and technology division, said that 3D weaving technology has always been an international problem.
Foreign countries have made breakthroughs in recent years, but technology and equipment have blocked our country.
The technology that Gong led this project not only fills the gap in China, but also is the world's first automatic 3D wide and thick woven fabric weaving machine, which currently has 6 Chinese invention patents and 11 utility models patents.
Li Yu said that the currently developed equipment can be woven more than 10 kinds of three-dimensional glass fabric with different structures, which can meet the different needs of aerospace, military, automobile and other industries, and can be used to manufacture wings, cockpit, armor, bulletproof vest, explosion-proof equipment, assault boat, ship hull, deck, chassis, door plank and so on.
"Can such fabrics be widely used in the future?"
Li Yu said, at present, the popularization of civilian technology is mainly in bags.
"The stretch and strength of the bags made of three-dimensional textiles are very high. I have seen many customers in the European and American markets, but the price is a bit expensive. I saw a box like this in Europe for 799 euros."
At present, the project has signed a result pformation intention with a listed company in Hubei Province, and will soon be put into production.
