"Five Changes" Reshape New Advantages Of Foreign Trade

The State Council recently announced a number of opinions on accelerating the fostering of new advantages in foreign trade competition.

Over the past 30 years since the reform and opening up, China's foreign trade has witnessed rapid growth. In the first 10 years of 90s and the first 10 years of this century, many years of foreign trade in our country maintained an annual growth rate of over 10%.

However, in recent years, with the change of market situation at home and abroad, the growth rate of foreign trade has declined.

Last year, the total value of China's import and export reached 26 trillion and 430 billion yuan, an annual increase of 2.3%. Although it is still higher than the average growth rate of Global trade and accounts for 12.2% of the world's foreign trade share, the growth rate has slowed down considerably compared with the good harvest of foreign trade.

This shows that the traditional advantages of China's foreign trade are declining. At this critical moment, China needs to cultivate new advantages in foreign trade competition, otherwise it will lose its existing market position in the world.

The key to the difficulty of China's foreign trade lies in the sharp change of market at home and abroad. The old growth pattern shows a serious lack of adaptation, so it is necessary to establish new advantages in foreign trade competition.

The State Council's "opinions" require China's foreign trade to achieve "five changes". First, we should promote exports to be pformed from goods to goods, services, technology and capital output. The two is to promote competitive advantage from price advantage to technology, brand and quality.

The three is to change the comprehensive competitive advantage for the core. The second is to promote the change of growth momentum from factor driving to innovation driven. The four is to promote the business environment to be changed from policy guidance to system standardization and to create a rule based international business environment. In the "five pformations" put forward by the State Council's opinion, the five change direction is the innovation in the original mode, and they are also an organic whole.

For example, to push foreign trade to pform from goods to goods, services, technology and capital exports, we need to have advantages in technology, brand, quality and service, and this advantage must rely on innovation drive.

When China's foreign trade has established an advantageous position, China will also be able to participate in the formulation of international economic and trade rules and have more voice in the market.

At the same time, China should take the initiative to participate in the formulation of international economic and trade rules, which is an important direction of change. It can help to reverse the passive situation that our exports are often boycotted in the international market. But to achieve this goal, we need to realize the first few changes first. Only when we occupy a dominant position in the market can we get the power to make such rules. Although this dominant position does not exclude the improvement of quantity, it is more important to improve the quality.
