International Standard: Determination Of Certain Flame Retardants In Textiles

In February 1, 2016, 2 international standards ISO 17881-1:2016, "determination of certain flame retardants for textiles, first parts: brominated flame retardants" and "ISO 17881-2:2016" determination of certain flame retardants for textiles, were developed by China Textile Standard (Beijing) inspection and Certification Center Co., Ltd., second part: phosphorus flame retardant.

Flame retardant textiles are passed.

Textile flame retardant is added to textiles after finishing. Due to the potential health hazards and environmental pollution caused by some flame retardants, many countries, regions and organizations have issued regulations and technical standards to control the flame retardants in textiles.

In the absence of uniform testing methods and international standards, the China Textile Standard took the lead in 2012 to formulate a new work proposal on the international standard for the determination of prohibited and restricted flame retardants in textiles, which attracted the attention of all countries.

In the meantime,

As a project lead unit, the standard organized a joint experiment between 5 laboratories, and successfully hosted the WG working group meeting in Beijing. Experts from 7 countries, including Japan, Britain, France, Italy, Switzerland and the United States, attended the meeting and reached a consensus on the main technical contents of the standard.

The project lasted four years and was officially released in 2016.

The 2 ISO international standards are issued in China.

An important achievement in the field of substantive participation in international work has further consolidated China's leading position in the field of textile ecological safety testing, and has played a positive role in promoting the internationalization of standards and technologies in the field of textile advantages and characteristics.
