In The Past 60 Years, Textile Waste Has Increased By 811%.
According to the investigation and research by the EPA, from 1960 to 2015, the textile waste has reached a huge increase of 811%, while the Retail Dive report also pointed out that as of 2015, the total weight of textile waste reached 16 million tons, far exceeding the 1 million 760 thousand tons in 1960s.

At the same time, EPA also showed that about 66% of most of the waste was dumped in the landfill, and only a small portion of the waste was actually recycled. In waste materials, plastics have the largest increase since 1960, a total increase of 8746%, while rubber, leather, footwear and clothing materials commonly used, and so on, also has a substantial increase of 361%. This data is no doubt a serious environmental worry. When consumers and producers have created huge waste, the brand should start implementing new measures to achieve sustainable development and reduce waste.
For example, the previous Burberry has announced that it will stop burning the unsalable goods and stop the use of real fur. The French government has also indicated that it will draft laws to prohibit luxury brands from burning down unmarketable commodities.

Not long ago, Fast Retailing, the parent company of UNIQLO, also stated that by 2020, the disposable plastics had to be reduced by 85%. Zara announced that the brand plans to use 100% renewable fabrics in 2025.

On the other hand, consumers must also think more about avoiding excessive buying and abuse.
