US News:
After 23 nights in China announced that it would levy tariffs on US $75 billion export goods to the United States, President Trump indicated that it would raise the tariff range of US $550 billion worth of goods exported to China.
In a comprehensive media report, Trump announced on twitter that the import tariff of $250 billion from China will rise to 30% from the current 25% to October 1st. In addition, the tariff rate for the remaining US $300 billion in Chinese exports to the US will increase from 15% to 15% in September 1st. Trump announced the news after closing the market overnight on Friday in the US stock market. The office of the US trade representative also announced on the same day that it would launch public consultation before raising the tariff rate of 250 billion dollars on Chinese products. In addition, Trump publicly urged American companies to leave China and said the US would be better without China.
The Ministry of Commerce responded:
A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce issued a statement on the announcement by the US side that it would further raise tariffs on Chinese exports to the US. In August 24th, the US side announced that it would raise tariffs on Tariffs of about 550 billion US dollars on Chinese exports to the United States. China firmly opposes this. Such unilateral, bullying trade protectionism and extreme pressure act, contrary to the consensus of heads of state of China and the United States, violating the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, seriously undermining the multilateral trading system and the normal international trade order, and will surely take its own fruit. China strongly urges the US side not to misjudge the situation, do not underestimate the determination of the Chinese people, and stop the wrong practices immediately, otherwise all the consequences will be borne by the US side.
